I’ve got it on here in the office. Thanks for the heads up Maynard.

Anybody know what caliber those rifles are? (I can’t turn on the sound.)

Actual shooting sports televised on MSNBC.

Whoulda thunk it?

I think that post-Sept 11 WTC/Pentagon attack the news has backed off on their attack against guns and they are also reporting more self-defense use of the gun, so it doesn't surprise me that they are carrying the biathlon. Many of their readership and reporters rushed out and bought guns.

.22LR

Maybe NBC will show the shooting sports in 2004, as well (here's hoping!)

.22 caliber, at least that's what the lousy nbc site says.

It's competition - they're all shooting weak, piddly rimfires. I don't suppose one of them would be man enough to compete with a centerfire rifle(if the rules even allowed it).

The antis got rid of Olympic high-power rifle competition years ago.

Andrea Henkel gets the gold.  That is a very tough sport.

World class hard bodies that can shoot!  Can it get any better than that?

Thanks to all for the answer to my caliber question.

Sigh.. Hockey. With apologies to the hockey fans I was hoping to see the men’s biathlon.

Maybe later.

Did the announcer say when it might be on?

It's a test of marksmanship, not recoil tolerance.  What would be the point of using centerfires?

"Oh, those wusses are shooting .300 Win Mags.  If they were real men they'd be using .475 Weatherbys!" [rolleyes]

*Men's 20 km Individual 13:30 -- 15:25

I don't think it will be televised.

I couldn't find an active TV schedule for the mens biathlon

Actually, it's on right now.

Remember, those times are in MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME--there was a 45 minute gap between women and men's biathalon--they filled it with hockey.

Wow! What a cool sport. I just might have to build myself a tricked out 10/22. I already have the skis. Or maybe I'll invent a new event where you have to shoot trap while riding a half pipe. hmmm....

Anyone remember the opening music video from from movie Top Secret with Val Kilmer--"Skeet Surfing."

"I wish they all could be double barrel!"

It is amazing that they shoot so well with their heart rate being up so high.  Andresen had a chance to medal, and then missed 3 in his final stage.  It is not hard to shoot well when you are relaxed, but after skiing a ways at altitude it is a different story.
