I am bidding on an engine that I will probably win.  Problem is its in Alabama and I am in Texas.  DHL, FedEx, UPS etc are out of the question because they do not pick up packages for delivery unless you have an account with them and ship on a regular basis.

Are there any other shippers out there that would do this?  I don't mind running over to their warehouse to pick it up but driving to Alabama is out of the question.

Another good company is American.  You might be able to save a bunch by having someone with a freight company billing account handle the shipping for you.  You would simply reimburse them for the cost.  It wasn't uncommon for freight companies to give 50% discounts to good customers.  You probably know someone who works for a company that does a fair amount of LTL shipping.

This may sound crazy, but if you have a Greyhound bus terminal in your area, try them, a company I used to work for shipped heavy/bulky items with them for the price of a ticket!

Wow!  American is $130.  Greyhound is 100 pounds maximum.
