What is the Best place to sell a musical instrument online?
I have a hand-crafted french viola worth about $4000.00 in good condition. willing to trade it for some AR's if anyone has a child in need of an instrument. I've looked through E-bay and all of their instruments for sale are of poor quality and wouldn't compare to mine.
thanks,
Chuck

[EBay is still the place to try and sell it.  Sure they suck, but your going to get the most exposure there.  Put a lot of pictures up.  Contact any buyer and sell outside of EBay.

That's a good thing. You don't want something competing with your auction. I've held off listing instruments if something similar was already online.

I've done pretty well listing on ebay, selling some very high quality stuff. The key is letting people know about it.

If you've used usenet, check to see if there is a newsgroup relating to violas or other stringed instruments. Then make sure they don't have a policy agains FS/FA ads. If they don't, post a polite messsage letting them know your viola is up for auction and give them a link.

There may be viola / stringed instrument related boards like this one on the web. If there is, that's another good place to place a link to your auction.

Don't think of ebay as a place, just think of it as a service.
