I need a cheap upper w/barrel for my ar-15, but I have really no clue where to buy one cheap. Any suggestions on what brand, where, and the cost I should be looking for?

Looking in SGN would be a good start. You will see who has what and can do cost comparisons.

Go to: www.ar15.com/forums/index.html?board=2 and ask the various "Parts Dealers" at the bottom of the page. They should be able to give you a price.

There is a place here in Wisconsin that specializes in this sort of thing. Hay River Trading Co. is their name. They also do allot of custom work. I dont think that they have a web site but their phone number is 1-715-357-6054. They are open until 5:00 p.m. central Time. They are good guy's to deal with. Give them a call. I was pricing uppers awhile back and there prices were around $385.00 complete thats with the bolt assy and charging handle. Dont quote the price but it is real close.

How hard would it be to find an upper with just the w/barrel, no guts (bolt,etc...)?
