Do you know who Royal Robbins is, and what 5.11 stands for?

I hear that they're no longer called 5.11s.

I'd also be curious about the best place to buy.

Have we ever done a GB on these?

Brigade Quartermasters, CopQuest, Blackwater Pro Shop, etc...

What's all the contraversy over the RR or 5.11 name about?

Hey Wave, it is the internet. I don't take things too seriouslah

I know I used to see them in Climbing shops, but not sure where you buy them today. Royal Robbins is a famous mountaineer/climber and a 5.11 is a class of rock climbing. a 4 class is hiking and 5 is vertical climbing. 5.11 is a very hard and challenging climb and deals with thin cracks and ledges.

They were originally degigned for climbing but I can see their tactical advantage because of the way they were designed.

I'm not sure where to get them now because I ordered 2 pair back in July and they still are not here yet.  Good luck in finding them

I just picked up a pair of shorts.

www.tacticaledge.com/stores.html

The manager shoots with us down at the Blackwater IPSC match sometimes. They will give a discount to some , I think you fit. ASK

They are close to me so I never buy of the web site. I had to use the search button to find the 5.11 product line .

I think we have some site venders that carry the line. There was a group buy not too ong ago 6 8 months ?

They run pretty true, maybe just a tad big. Just buy the same size you would when buying jeans, as they seem to run pretty close in sizing with Levis as far as waist goes.

Just came back from Ironworks and man do they stock Royal Robbinns !! They have tons of the stuff , every accessory you can think of.

The RR Rep gave me the new lightweight shirts they have to T&E , he told me that there going to start making lightweight tactical pants which will have the mag/knife pouch on the left side intead of the right side due to customer request. I think thats a great idea , now when your wearing a duty or tac rig you can still utilize the pocket.

They are also coming out with a new workout/undershirt like Underarmor , a line of boots , a killer three in one jacket and a series of undercover outerwear.

No longer made by Royal Robbins.  I just got 2 pair black off  E-Bay for $30.00 each.  Looks to be the best price I've found.  Most retailers are around the $38-$40 range.  That said  they only had black, but that was what I was looking for.

North American Public Safety Supply  (NAPSS on E-Bay) this week it appears they are running specials on Bates Enforcer Boots.  Right now they're at $30.   No pics but these are appaarently similar to combat boots with side zips.

Haven't received the pants yet so can't make any further comment.  No connection other than the E-Bay purchase.

I bought a pair in 34" x 32" and they were fine in the waist but the legs seemed more like 36" to 38". and too baggy in the legs for me. I had to double check the tag to make sure they said the size I ordered and it was what I ordered.

My vote goes here.  These guys are great to deal with.  Bought a couple of shirts from them.  Great price, and great service.

The place not to buy them.  Eliteguns.  They screwed me big time.
