I know, not this shit again! Looking for tablet, Android preferred. Want it for games and movies for kids, maybe ebooks for me. WiFi yes, 3G no. And what about Nooks or Kindles? Just as useful as a Samsung, for example?

I really enjoy my playbook, but I seem to be the only person who does.

I love my Asus Transformer Infinity.
It's beefy as hell for gaming. Great display for movies, plays lots of file types, has a built in GPS and teathers to my Verizon phone. mini HDMI out Micro SD onboard slot It's the cats ass. |

Nexus 7 or Nexus 10...
http://www.google.com/nexus/ With the Nook or Kindle you get a gimped Android OS that tries to lock you into their services. With the Nexus tablet you get the latest Android OS that can be easily unlocked and rooted to add other customized Android firmwares. |

I'm a big fan of my kindle fire but I mostly use it for reading.

OST.
I'm looking for one with GPS that I can use on my boat with a marine charting program. Mike Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Quoted: Nexus 7 Great price too...$199 for the 16GB, $249 for the 32GB. |

Best non-AAPL ?
ASUS top model is the TF700 http://eee.asus.com/en/transformer-infinity/features http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2406244,00.asp |

I have a xoom and a galaxy tab 10.2 I think the. Samsung is better but it's a much newer product. I have noticed the the more powerful processors make or break an android device. A slower chip ruins android imho with jerky screen transitions and slow loading apps.

Just got my wife the Asus TF700. Had it a couple weeks now really impressed.

Ok, Best Buy has the Samsung Galaxy 2 Tab 8MB on sale for $180. FO or NO?
|

Nexus 7 or 10. I've played with both (it's fun working with people who immediately order the latest and greatest).
Android developers are still way behind the fucking curve on apps optimized for tablets, but either of these two tablets seem a-ok by me.

Yeah, the Kindle Fire HD is an option, but it has a lot of fluff between you and what you are looking for. To me, it felt like more of an "Amazon prime shopping terminal". |
|
I got a Nexus 7 32gb a few weeks ago. It is great and really easy to unlock and root. When unlocking and rooting, the XDA Developers website is your friend.

Wally World has both the 16gb and 32gb Nexus 7. So if I just want game apps for the kids, books for myself, and a movie or two for the road, is 16gb enough?

Wife wants a 10" tablet. Nexus doubles in price to $400, Galaxy 2 is only $300. Guess I'm getting a Galaxy 2, 16gb, 10.1"

An iPad with tape over the Apple logo. Now you get a great device without fear of looking trendy.

This is why I didn't want one of these fucking things in the first place, too much BS. Should I just give up and buy an iPad and be done with it?

Quoted: Nexus 7 I have one and it is very nice, excelent buy for the money |

Quoted: 2 is fine, and will save you some money. I have a 3, but wouldn't mind a 2, honestly. I have a hard time noticing the difference between displays (note that a lot of people I meet really notice the difference immediately). You may or may not. We have a Ipad 1,2,and 3. I am still using the 1 and like it fine.
|
|
If you took away my Retina iPad (and all the other iPads on the planet) and I had to buy a new tablet I'd get a Nexus 10.

The difference between the screen of a 2 and a 3 is extreme if you are used to a 1 or 2. I noticed it immediately. Most people who haven't owned an iPad prior to a 3 seem to not notice as much. Either way, my two has a great screen, and the battery is cruising along a year and a half plus later.

I guess I'd have to try and use your 2 for a while, because I'm really hard pressed to appreciate the difference. |

For curiosities sake, I looked up the sales numbers for the Nexus 7. Asus projects 5 million units sold by years end. Not to shabby for an android device. Not too terribly far off of the iPad when it was first released.

The retina is nice and all, but for me not worth the extra money. |

Quoted: This is why I didn't want one of these fucking things in the first place, too much BS. Should I just give up and buy an iPad and be done with it? ABsolutely not. There are plenty of good Android tablets out there cheaper than Apple and just as functional. The Galaxy 2 isn't exactly the newest and fastest anymore, but for casual stuff like what your wife would use it for? I doubt she'd hate it. It does bring up a big question: Are you wanting to tie yourself to the Apple or the Android infrastructure? Personally, I like Android with Google integration. Either one is fine though. |

They cost the same price, too. |
