I’m looking for a hard drive enclosure that will hook up to your average television and play movies.

Ideas?

Thanks.

You might want to look at a unit that does not have a internal hard drive but uses a external drive, less heat in the player means longer life. Get one with a ethernet connection.

I have a Asus O!PLAY and like it a lot, it plays DVD ISOs with menu support and it plays pretty much everything I throw at it.

Another one you can probably get locally at Best Buy is the WD TV Live, It plays most files and DVD ISO (without menus) and has ethernet and even does some Internet video. Make sure you get the WD TV Live and not the older WD TV HD which does not have ethernet.

Been using one of these for a while.  They make a SATA version too.
