I have a bunch of gun cleaning equipment that is old and pure junk.

I want to buy a new set up for multiple handgun, shotgun and rifle calibers.

I own several lever actions, single shots, bolt actions, M1 Garand, M1 carbines, shotguns and semi-auto and revolver handguns.

Otis cleaning kit?

Boresnake?

Traditionl kits?

I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Will the Otis and Boresnakes clean as well as traditional kits??

Any help would be apprciated.

I like my OTIS kit.

I find that I still bust out the big kit for certain things (Lubriplate, Hoppe's, etc.) but the OTIS kit is a great starter. I love mine.

Otis? Hmmm, will have to check them out.

Meanwhile, my kit consists of a .22 cal Dewey rifle rod and a .22 cal Dewey pistol rod. With a nice assortment of brushes, etc, I can clean anything from my .22 to a 12ga shotgun.

I use Dewey and Otis. I still push patches through the ARs with the Dewey, but pull the brushes with the Otis. I really like the Otis for M1, M14 style semiauto rifles. I also like the Otis kits, just drop it in the pack for field cleaning; can't do that with my Dewey rod.

Midway has the Otis kits on sale.

OK guys.

A couple of quick questions. Are the brushes in the otis kit compatable with generic brushes, or can I only buy otis brushes for it?

Will regular patches work with it?

Any drawbacks to the kit?

dont get the m4, dont get a 223 specific, either get the "sniper" kit, which does 762 and 223, or the universal, the prices are so close that its a waste of money to just but it for one caliber.

the universal comes with a pistol and rifle length, and shotgun adapters.

i only use otis now, carried a universal in iraq, and it worked awesome. i love it.
