Averaging twice per day for more than a month now our receptionist has received calls from this phone number in Lewisville Tx. 214-488-5512

update 2: they may be using multiple phones, we just got the call again but now its from 214-488-5152 Maybe our receptionist got the number wrong before so I will wait until she gets another to be sure.

(update: just clarified this with our secretary)The calls sometimes consist of a second or two of breathing and then they hang up, but most of the time, they just let our receptionist go through her spiel and then they hang up. But they always wait until after she finishes. I would think that they would hang up before she finishes if it was accidental.

I haven't had any luck looking it up, and I didn't want to call to give away that I'm investigating it.

Whats the best course of action to stop them from calling us? Can our phone carrier filter out one number from being able to call us? Should I just call the number back and try to see why they are calling? I doubt it is accidental considering they have made the "mistake" about 100 times by now.

Try to send a picture message of your scrotum. If it is a cell phone, they will get the picture and either stop or ask you out.

Buy your receptionist one of these, and tell her to have fun with it:

Constantly fax the number? Few things more annoying than answering your phone to WEEEEEEE EHHHHHHH SCHHHHHHH.

IIRC, the phone company is required by law to investigate and take measures to stop shit like that when you inform them of it.

Just put them on eternal hold.

What phone carrier do you have?
ATT has something called "Call Blocking" http://www.att.com/gen/general?pid=3491

Other providers should offer something similar.

The air horn sounds like more fun.

It's probably an auto dialer from a telemarketer or collection agency. Call it back and see WTF

We used the air horn trick on the jerks who kept calling about our car warranties expiring. It worked - they never called back.

It's trivial to forge your caller-ID number. The calls may or may not be coming from the reported number.
