Without a doubt, 10 years ago.  Wings have more of a rivalry with the Ducks now than the Avs.  That may change this season though, both teams are more physical, and the Avs are talented again.

As a Red Wings fan, I hate the Ducks, but I still LOATH the Avs.

Yankees/Red Sox rivalry goes back a long time, so they get my vote.

The Avalanche/Red Wings rivalry was fun to watch in the late 90's into the 00's.

Oh I'm with you man, I got into hockey in '95, loved Stevie Y and have been a fan ever since.  I can't STAND the Avs, but it just hasn't been a competitive rivalry for 5 or 6 years.

I can't believe people actually watch baseball on TV. I love playing baseball, and I even enjoy going to a game now and then. On TV, absolute bore. I'd rather watch golf. Almost.

There were many times when the Yankees/Red Sox game didn't mean anything either but it was still considered a rivalry.

I think it changes over time.  Right now, Yankees/Red Sox is probably the best because both teams are so good and the rivalry is old and heated.  I'd like to have voted for Cowboys/Redskins, but the Redskins have sucked for so long that it's not much of a rivalry right now.  IMO, a quality rivalry needs both teams to be competitive.

I can't remember if it beat other games for a record or not...

I got to skate at the Joe a few times during the lockout and made a special point to stand on the spot Darren McCarty beat the snot out of that b*tch Claude Lemieux.
