Long story short, I want an SUV or truck for my next vehicle. I carry my shooting gear with me all the time. Currently driving a sedan, and have everything in the trunk.

A couple of musts:  luxurious interior, leather, heated seats, nav, heated steering wheel, moonroof (panoramic preferred), AWD

I'm strongly considering an F150, either Platinum or Limited trim, but I'd like a standard V8 mated to the new 10 speed...my concern is I can't get that combo

My other concern is about storing guns in an F150. I would go supercrew, but don't want guns and targets laying around in the back seat.

I've considered a Jaguar f-pace, Land Rover, Porsche, Audi, BMW...I think BMW wouldn't offer the performance that I want in a price that I would find palatable...

Same issue with the Porsche...I had a Cayenne Turbo and was happy to be rid of it. Fun car. Didn't dig the maintenance and cost of servicing it. I'd like a vehicle where parts aren't

going to cost 5x a domestic equivalent, just because it has a German name. Therefore, despite loving some of their options, I'm  leaning away from Jag/Porsche/Rover/BMW/Mercedes.

I've spent lots of time in an Acura MDX which I like. I just don't feel the luxury or performance is there. I considered Infiniti...really love the looks of a QX70, but

I didn't like some features that were included in the packages that I wanted, for example, I had a salesman offer the solution of putting a piece of duct tape over the forward camera to

disable the lane keep assist alarm. I'm pondering Lexus, just don't know if "driving excitement" will be there. I would be looking to the RX350 likely...no experience with Lexus at all.

I test drove an XT5, and was close to pulling the trigger, but I don't like the reheated leftover feel of most of the drive train. It didn't feel much different than an Acadia...

I loved the Audi SQ5, tons of fun to drive. Interior seems to have too much youth street racing influence, I don't want carbon fiber and aluminum. I want leather and wood. It was also tiny. I felt a little

claustrophobic. Being 6'4", I like bigger cockpits and bigger softer seats. If the Q7 were available as the SQ7, it would be a no-brainer for me. I love that SUV, but would like it supercharged or turbo.

I don't have any love for Chevy or GMC products. No love for Dodge. I considered the Jeep SRT8, but don't know about longevity. My dad loved Jeep Grand Cherokees, but they always had minor

issues and seemed to be on a forever revolving cycle of needing fixed.

I would love to buy an F150, pros I see are cheaper, more available parts and cheaper maintenance than import luxury SUVs. Interior is more luxurious than I ever imagined (Platinum/Limited). The aluminum

body is a big selling point...I'm in the rust belt and can't stand seeing a 5 year old vehicle with rust holes in it. I don't like the 2018 looks, so since I'd want a 10 speed, I'd have to get a 2017, meaning ecoboost v6.

I worry about its reliability. No offense, but I had a Ford Freestyle that was a NIGHTMARE when it came to electronic gremlins and shitty reliability. The day I traded it in and picked up the MDX for the wife, was a

happy day. She's had zero issues with the MDX. I also don't know where I'd store my guns and gear in the F150. I don't really want to have to invest another $5000 into a bed vault. I don't routinely haul anything,

but I would feel like I'm killing the potential to haul by putting one in. I also don't know how they drive on snow. I had a RWD 1988 F150 that would get stuck on flat ground if snow dusted it. I may be

spoiled by having an AWD...wondering if I'd regret not having that in the winters...I also think the rear space of an SUV would allow me to cart my guns around much easier than the F150.

Decisions decisions...Anybody been in this boat before? Any thoughts or suggestions? I've also thought about staying in my car and seeing if an SQ7 hits the US in a few years...First world problems...

Have you considered a loaded 4Runner or the lexus equivalent? They are both very reliable and the upper trims are pretty plush. Beyond this, if your budget allows, check out the land cruisers. They are as plush as they are capable.

There are a lot of options for securing the bed of a pick up. And it seems you have the means to pick and choose as you will.
You can turn a pickup bed into a trunk if you like.
And it doesn't seem like having an empty bed is a priority of yours.
That plus cash makes it an easy choice.

You seem a little picky

It's OK, I am too

I'm in the "V8 or nothing" camp when it comes to trucks, however the EB V6 has been out for over a decade now and is doing very well.  The F150 is the best truck on the market, and has been for the past 40 years in a row.
As for hauling your guns around, is there any space under the rear seats or behind them to store anything?  You can always install a nice, color-matched bed cap, carpet the bed, and make it what you want inside.  If you're looking at SUV's anyways, you obviously don't need a pickup bed.

As for your bad luck with the Freestyle....our '07 Freestyle is at 142k miles with 0 issues (bought used at 67k) Many, many trips up and down the east coast to see family every holiday....

I was in this same boat quite a few years ago. I went for the Toyota Land Cruiser. Today I would go for the Lexus LX

It sounds like you want a crossover wagon thing with a turbo, not an SUV.

I'd get a LandCruiser or 570, but neither are going to win any drag races.

I got the 4runner TEP because I couldn't stand to spend $80k on a vehicle.

Yukon Denali or Yukon XL Denali?  Or Sierra Denali half-ton?

Totally loaded, 420hp V8, AWD, lots of lockable space, especially in the Yukon XL.

I own an '09 Sierra Denali and an '08 3/4 ton Suburban (sister to the Yukon XL).  They've been great trucks.  Dead-nuts reliable, no repairs (well, $23 on the Suburban in the last 3 years, 160k miles).

For the SuperCrew you can get locking storage that goes under the back seat. There is room for a big locker under there.

As for AWD our Expedition had an auto 4wd in addition to 2h, 4h, 4l.
I left it in A4wd all the time. If the rear wheels slipped it would engage the fronts for you then disengage when rear traction was restored.
I miss that option in my current FX4 SuperCrew but if I recall correctly A4wd was only available on either Platinum or Limited. Can't remember.

F150 with 3.5EB and a retractable bed cover to store your guns (what I have).  I'm 6'3 and almost feel claustrophobic in my wife's Landcruiser, after owning my truck for a few years there is no way I can go back to a smaller ride for a daily driver.  I have a F150 with the 6.2L, but I wouldn't hesitate to own a new EB with the power they put down.

I've never seen a camper on a half ton (besides on single cabs) that didn't look pointless.  6' is barely big enough for me to lay down in.  I'd be comfort with the 8' longbed that superdutys come with if I was looking for a camper.

Your list is schizophrenic.  Talking about F150's then XT5's suggests you're not as picky as you think.  With expensive gear, you don't want to risk throwing it under a toneau cover; you need dark tint and enclosed storage.

Whenever you can't figure out if you want a SUV or a truck, the answer is Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade; choose ESV/XL based on size needs, and Denali/Escalade if you want AWD over a part-time case.  Snag one with the 6.2L and you won't be unhappy.  For Tahoe, go 09+. For Escalade and Yukon Denali, 07+.  The platform is hammered out, reliable, well-documented and easy to maintain whether it's dealer maintained or you do it yourself, and has a very strong aftermarket for everything you might need.
