Quoted: Best Movies Ever 1. Red Dawn 2. Saving Private Ryan Any Comments? View Quote Yeah, but given your selection I don't think you'd get it. Red Dawn?!? The BEST movie EVER?!? Patrick Swayze? Yeah, forget De Niro and Pacino. Who needs talentless losers like them when you have the acting prodogy know as Patrick Swayze? Further more, Red Dawn over Saving Private Ryan?!? Let me guess, you're a BIG John Stamos fan too? Holy sh!t....I need to get out of this post before I actually read that top 10 list again and fall off my chair laughing. Forget each to their own, that's just rediculous! |

Quoted: Killer Clowns From Outer Space View Quote This is pretty sad, but that movie gave me nightmares for almost 2 years when I was younger. I had been watching a 72-hour Gammorathon on Comedy Central (MST3K) and was high as Hell on Jolt and jelly beans, plus extremely exhausted. I couldn't sleep because I was just too tired and it was like 3 in the morning, so I switched over to Cinemax after Gammorathon was over. The movie had just started and it scared the shit out of me. I still get a weird feeling around clowns. Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Can't sleep, the clowns will eat me.... Don't forget that our friend Patrick Swayze killed a lot of Commies in the movie with their own AK-47s. Doesn't that count for something? The movie made the left wingers look like fools. The political message far outweighed the acting merits. If you want to piss off a liberal tell them that Red Dawn is your favorite movie. You are right, Saving Private Ryan was top notch. I posted this to get a reaction on Red Dawn and you are the only one to bite. |

The Music Man
On the Beach Total Recall Bullitt The Kremlin Letter Fail Safe Jason and the Argonauts 2001: A Space Odyssey The Birds Notice that these are "old" movies. I don't get out much... [rolleyes] I haven't seen anything that was real good eXcape[;D] for a long time. Total Recall was a good 'trippin' movie; meaning it just took you away from reality for a couple of hours and let you think about it when it was over. Not a lot of movies have that effect anymore. I'm sure there are others. Good lists, y'all. |

Flash66....
Well, I bit. Yeah, I think Red Dawn is a decent movie. A far better story than the collection of highly sub-par actors who played in it. Not to mention that a good, modern war film shouldn't be a "PG" kind of thing. It could have been MUCH better in my opinion, but a good story none the less. Still, I wouldn't put it in my top 20. Redmanfms.... Or should I just call you "dude"? Yeah, you know, now that you point out those stunning facts about the guys I mentioned I'll have to rethink my position. After all, Taxi Driver, Scarface, Heat, Raging Bull, The God Father, Casino, Carlito's Way, The Deer Hunter, Dog Day Afternoon, Glen Gary Glen Ross, And Justice For All, The Untouchables, Goodfellas, This Boys Life....what weak movies those were, huh? Yeah, I guess that genius who brought us classics like Dirty Dancing, Ghost and City Of Joy deserves much better than the review I gave him. Don't quit your day job as a putz and become a movie critic.....it wont last....trust me. |

View Quote Oh, and de Niro/Pacino showed such range playing tough guys in every one of those movies didn't they? If you had a 3rd grade reading comprehension level you'd know that I wasn't even comparing the acting merits of Swayze v. de Niro/Pacino, nor was I comparing the movies that they were in; I was simply stating that neither de Niro nor Pacino are spectacularly talented themselves. The difference between the three actors (as I stated in my first post, although you may have been unable to understand it all) is that de Niro and to a lesser extent Pacino are very adept at choosing roles that suit their personalities. Their alter-egos just happen to be violence-prone, gun-toting loud mouths, which is something that all of the movie viewers who are ar15.com members can truly appreciate. I like most de Niro movies and most of Pacino's pre-Scent of a Woman movies, but I can't give them accolades for choosing roles that are identical from movie to movie. The basic characters that they play are essentially the same and Pacino has descended into almost soap opera-esque overacting, luckily de Niro was/is a little more subtle than Pacino. Give up the sad hero worship, it's really pathetic. They are just freakin' actors. |

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "The Man Who Would be King" yet. What an awesome movie!
If you have not seen it, go rent it immediately! It's got guns, booze, major conquest, polo played with human heads, comedy, donkeys, Afghan killing, leprosy, Sean Connery when he was cool, Michael Caine, and his fine ass wife(at least she was fine then). What else could you ever ask for in a movie? |

The ending was perfect; it truly captured the spirit of the book. |

Yeah, your post was so intellectually exhaustive that I got all dizzy from reading it. Please, give me a moment to absorb it all. Did I claim that DeNiro & Pacino had tremendous range as actors? No, I didn't. They are however VERY good at the roles they are best suited for. They know their limitations, contrary to many in Hollywood who think that their "actors cap" allows them the latitude to explore roles that are a laughable at best. Wonder why they ever got those silly Oscars? Must have been the sympathy vote. You definately get mine. In the same way my sympathy is extended to the little retarded kid who stumbles over the first hurdle in the Special Olympics. After all, he did the best he could, but still came up short.[;)] |

Apparently you are unable to see the inherent hypocrisy of the entertainment industry awarding the entertainment industry. That's kind of like the FBI investigating FBI misconduct. Oscars frequently go to popular (at least among their fellow actors) actors, not to great actors. They also seem to have a propensity to award movies that nobody saw (especially of late), but got rave reviews from the pundits. Oh, and please don't regurgitate my post back at me like your two twitching ganglea actually were able to cooperate long enough to have an original thought. |

Was originally released as the "Tiptoe Boys". Good scenes of "Killing House" training and assault on the American Ambassadors residence with the camera shot through what appeared to be a gas mask lens. I saw it in the early/mid 80's. Only played for about 1 week. When I saw it there were only a handful of people there...all of us LEO tactical team memebrs and our wifes/girlfriends.
Anyone else ever see it? Your thoughts? |

Raging Bull, Gadfather Part II, Cape Fear, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, - Hell - Awakenings! - I didn't even realize it was him untiul the credits! You must be thinking about all of his recent movies playing up his Godfather II image as the tough, talk softly but kick ass guy (Goodfellahs, HEAT, etc.). And Pacino - MY GOD! Are you telling me that he didn't seem Cuban to you in Scarface, and extremely Italian in the Godfather series? I will admiot though, that he has played his share of brash, emotional loudmouths lately (Scent of a Woman - I guess that's where your hooah comes from -, Any Given Sunday, Heat) Adam edited to add: sorry, I posted this out of shock and before reading the rest of the thread - it is obvious this subject has been beaten to death. |
