I have to go with Braveheart, classic movie that was just awesome!

Apocalypto was very well done...but how someone can go straight from Passion of the Christ to Apocalypto is kinda wierd but whatever. Because of how the movie Apocalypto is, if you watch it on blue ray in high def and surround sound....it's amazing

It's my favorite of his directed movies....as far as being the best film overall.

It's a hell of an achievement, that few directors could have pulled off (in scale, theme, cost, etc) without turning it into a boondoggle.

Mel is great, Braveheart is number one, no questions asked.

Man without a face is also excellent as Ransom is too.  Mad Max has to be up there too.

But...go give money to our troops at this thread:

I don't know if he directed it, but The Patriot was pretty fucking good, as was We Were Soldiers, Braveheart was damn good too. I've yet to see Apocalypto.

Say what you will about Mel and all of his fucked up stupid shit he's done, you have to admit he has made some pretty damn good movies. Hell, I've watched The Partiot probably 5 to 6 times. The Passion was pretty good for what it was.

That he was in? (Which you didn't ask, but folks never pay attention to my OPs either. )

Hard choice for me between The Patriot and We Were Soldiers

YMMV

See my reply above. We Were Soldiers was a damn good movie, one of those that you didn't want to end,  and wished that it was a little longer. And not to mention that it was taken from true accounts, Hal Moore was one bad MoFo.

Payback
Ransom

Road Warrior. That's where he peaked. NVM, I see this is about films he directed. How do you choose the best of a suckfest? Brave heart, I suppose wasn't terrible. Mostly because it was unique when it was released. He remade it as The Patriot and We were Soldiers. Both of those were meh.
