I'm learning so much in my college history class. Today, I learned that Benjamin Franklin and Sam Adams were exactly like the Vietcong and the Mujahideen. Those were her words, unsolicited.

I've also learned that the reason why some American colonies survived was African know-how from slaves because no one other than Africans know how to grow rice.

I can't wait til later when I expect I'll learn that the Civil War was all about slavery and had almost nothing to do with states' rights.

Yes, the founding fathers espoused communist rhetoric and had a penchant for sawing peoples heads off.

I don't know if that's what she's going to teach us, but that's my guess.

I remember how Benjamin Franklin used to write on the need for Sharia law in the U.S. Constitution, when he wasn't busy sawing people's heads off.

Here's a page from a presentation. Notice how she never outright calls him a bad person but implies it? That's pretty much how she is with anything white, male, or American in this class.

My wife was also at UH and she had to take some world politics core class that was basically an open format white male american bashing session. I get the feeling that you are dealing with something similar here?

What is she saying that you take exception to? Was Samuel Adams a revolutionary?

Yes. Yes he was. He had a skill at inciting people to action. He was committed to independence long before it was "mainstream", which meant many considered him a dangerous radical.

He was clearly involved in the Boston Tea Party which hardened the British towards taking punitive actions. Many fellow delegates to the Continental Congress considered him a radical and against any reconciliation with Great Britain.

On a personal note Sam Adams was probably a real shitkicker. He made more than a few enemies in his time. IIRC after the revolution he attempted to reenter Massachusetts state politics and had a hard time winning election.

What matters is he was on the correct side of the Revolution, regardless of his (presumed) personality flaws.

Samuel Adams didn't intentionally murder children.

Samuel Adams didn't saw the heads off of unarmed men with dull knives.

Samuel Adams didn't turn children into walking bombs.

I will not tolerate the bullshit you are spreading. Revolution is one thing. Being a barbarous monster is another. Trying to equate the two is morally despicable.

LOL

I was going by the material the OP put up from the class. Why would I argue moral equivalence with the likes of the Taliban? That is ridiculous.

When was the last time the Taliban were caught reading Locke?

I had a dual major in Aviation/Computer Science at a "liberal arts college".

I was forced to take some "English" classes while there. One was called Native American Studies and the other was called Gender Issues.

One of the professors for both classes was a female. We lucky students "learned" that native americans were matriarchal societies (was the chief a female???) and she used to romantically go-on about how wonderful it would have been to have been a squaw.

At 24 years old, I was non-traditional and a bit of a rabble-rouser. More than once I called her on her complete bullshit. I informed her that many indian squaws spent part of their day tanning hides with the buffalo brains that were chopped-out of the skulls. (I'm 1/4 native american and grew-up attending mountain man rendezvous, etc). Anyways... seriously... any college kids that buy into the horsesh#t that they are fed in college were lost causes anyways. My kids have been coming home and scoffing at such silliness since they were in grade school.

They were soldiers, not police. That's why the dog didn't get shot.

This shit should not stand!!!

College is nothing more than marxist indoctrination and brainwashing. I hear college kids all the time bringing up how the white man is evil for what he's done to the other races and how communism & socialism is so much better than our system and America should switch. It's not just the young either, i know adults who have went to further their education and come out after four years sounding like marx, lenin and/or stalin.

That's the reason they want as many people as possible too go to college because it's a commie re-education camp.

Hmm, I thought Ben Franklin was supposed to be like the Khmer Rouge.....and that the Franklin Mint porcelin knick-knacks were made from the ground up skulls of all the "intellectuals" he had stacked in his backyard.

BTW: your teacher is an idiot.

The Civil War was about beans.

The South lost, so chili MUST HAVE beans.

There are actually laws in Rhode Island banning the cooking of chili without beans (meatsauce).

It was good when he was making it.

When they started contract brewing, QC went straight into the fucking toilet.

I'm told that the stuff local to Boston (which is still made at BBC) is still good. I'll never know, though, because I'm not going to Boston to find out.

This reminds me of when I went to U of H, I took Chinese History to get some credits towards my minor. I had this professor who was from China and her father was supposedly a major player in the Communist Party back in the Mao Zedong days. Anyhow, class wasn't too bad until we got into the part of Chinese history that covered the ascension of the Chinese Communist Party in China. She goes on rambling about how Communism is right for China and that it works because of the traditional mindset etc...Now, most of the students (myself included) were American kids who had nothing good to say about communism, for lack of a better word. We drilled our professor about the negatives of communism and she basically had to calm us all down because it went from a dicussion about Chinese history to "AMERICA, F**K YEAH!" I had to be controlled because I was the one leading the debate about the negatives of Communism because being the son of Vietnam War refugees, my feelings were pretty strong against communism.

Point being, it is amazing what a lot of college professors try and force feed/influence a lot of students to believe as the truth about history. I just figured it was a way to learn from our past mistakes and not repeat them. Apparently, some college professors "twist" certain facts to enhance their political agenda or beliefs.

I don't think you could make a close moral comparison, but anyone who thinks you can keep your hands clean in an armed rebellion against a government is kidding themselves.
