LOS ANGELES (AP) - ``Pearl Harbor'' star and Oscar winner Ben Affleck has entered a live-in rehabilitation facility for alcohol abuse.

Affleck, who turns 29 on Aug. 15, voluntarily entered the Promises rehabilitation facility in Malibu on Tuesday. Promises is where Paula Poundstone and Robert Downey Jr. are undergoing treatment.

``Ben is a self-aware and smart man who has decided that a fuller life awaits him without alcohol. He has chosen to seek out professional assistance and is committed to traveling a healthier road with the support of his family, friends and fans,'' Affleck publicist David Pollick said Friday.

Lay off Ben, he has combat fatigue after single handedly defending Pearl Harbor, attacking Tokyo, and fighting off that famine victim Gwenneth Paltrow.

Quite frankly, I believe that Robert Downey, Jr., has shown himself to be so incapable of rehabilitation, that I think he should be honored in some way.

From now on, whenever you would ordinarily say-
'Man, that's a real downer,' you should say instead, 'Man, that's a real [red][b]downey[/b][/red]'. Or 'I'm feeling real downey today.'
