A legend in Montreal, perhaps Patrick Roy will be remembered for what happened on December 2, 1995, just as much as his two Stanley Cup victories. On this date the Montreal Canadiens were skating against the Detroit Red Wings, and with Roy between the pipes, Detroit was shelling Roy! Habs coach Mario Tremblay left Roy in the game for 9 Detroit goals before yanking him. When Roy finally skated to the bench he screamed at Tremblay and the team president Ronald Corey, vowing never to wear the sweater of the Montreal Canadiens again! |
