PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) -- Machete-wielding supporters of ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide are turning their wrath on Haiti's demoralized police force, beheading some of their victims in a campaign imitative of the insurgency in Iraq.

(longer story at the link)

Savages will be savages, regardless of the color of their skin or their religion, apparently

Not directed at you, or intended to be a flame, but aren't the vast majority of Haitians Catholic?

(Probably not these assholes, but I thought Haiti was pretty much a Catholic country)

They claim they are, and they even go to church, but then they go home and practice voodoo anyways.

Smae could be said of alot of american "christians" that profess understanding and love and to follow Jesus's teachings.

and then cheat on their wives and hit their kids.

not a flame, but just saying.

There is so much voodoo mixed with derivatives of Christianity in that part of the world, I don't know if you can really classify them.

Sgtar15 probably comes closest to hitting the nail on the head. Seems more pagan than anything else. I have no desire to go there to find out more.

This photo could be legit but there's something about the M16's and the NCO's stripes that don't look right.

If it is legit, that NCO should have been found and tried along with that squad.

Did they have brass deflectors and forward assists? (forgive me if a stupid question, but I know little about vietnam-era M16s)

I think fwd assist was the M16A1, which was used in Vietnam. I also think there were telestocks.

Corret me if Im wrong, though

Plus - they might just have found decapitated bodies, and taken the picture. Who knows? Even if the picture is correct and from Vietnam, maybe it was taken to document atrocities committed by the V.C. and these guys are just posing with decapitated bodies they found.

Well, it sure beats their old method of execution: Necklacing.

Haiti is the most messed up country in this hemisphere.

Is "necklacing" the one with the tire? My dad would see those all the time when he worked in Nigeria

Yup. Used to be very popular among Aristide backers in Haiti. An extremely gruesome way to die.

How do you know those troops lopped off their domes ??
I see no knives, swords, machetes.
My guess would be they came across this scene and decide to have kodak moment.
That headline could just as easily read.....U.S. troops find evidence of VC murders.

Yeah you dopes gotta wake up!! Atrocities do happen in war on both sides!! Many many soldiers came back from nam saying they either witnessed it or actually participated in it. This is truth not propaganda! Does it mean that all in nam did it? NO! But it did happen. It's only because of this Election that the atrocities are being brought up again. With some jackasses saying it never really happened at all. So are all the vets who said they saw these things liars? I'm not talking about just Kerry. But a lot of them, All liars?? Plus remember that The mei-lai Massacre was real. And remember that movie "casualties of war" where they kidnapped and raped that girl? That was'nt hollywood leftist BS, It was based on an actual court martial case. To say that it did'nt happen at all is a pure lie.

As well as saying that they all witnessed it and participated in it, ala John Kerry. Besides, I don't know how John Kerry could have seen that much of the war if even half of what Brain Tracy says is true.

Agree with the first point. My guess is the VC were probably killed in combat and were then decapitated by these smiling idiots. (Incidentally, the Sgt. stripes look like legit subdued rank shoulder patches to me.)

Disagree with second point. If we can’t face up to own misconduct, then criticizing someone else’s is meaningless.

Along the same lines, let me remind our more forgetful members that white Christian (so-called!) members of the Klu Klux Klan went around this country a hundred years or so ago, gleefully lynching blacks and burning down their houses and such.

And I’m old enough to remember the bombing of a black church in the south that IIRC left 3 young black girls dead.

Long before there was Al Queda, there was the KKK.

Maybe I missed it, but I haven’t seen a single poster here try to justify terrorist acts.

The point – in my view at least – is that terrorist acts are neither new nor limited to any one specific group.

No one (including myself) should be allowed to simply pick and choose only those events that support their own argument.
