Woke up only to take a 2 hour nap. Bought some PBR and fireworks and fingered an M1A this afternoon. Found out a friend and colleague killed himself today. Tried to enjoy the rest of the day with some fire works and watched Independance Day and Memphis Belle.

Won't be a Fourth I will forget anytime soon.

Apart from the unexpected demise of someone you know... sounds like a pretty good day

I'm not going to argue with that. But the unexpected demise was very unexpected and the first suicide I've ever had to deal with. And forint to come from a close friend and work colleague it's very shocking.  Our workgroup is pretty tight and have been together for the better part of 9-10 years so it's a big shock when this or any family tragedy happens.

I understand and I'm sorry it had to happen that way. A friend of mine lost one or both kids in a car accident a day ago. They still aren't sure if the other one will live and I don't know about the friend.

Sorry to hear about your loss.  My nephew took his life in March of this year at the age of 15.  It sucks, my wife has had a VERY tough time with it.   Make sure you and your friends talk about it, not something us fellows do a great job of.  Good luck to you and yours.

Thanks. I've talked with several close friends at work about it and we are all shocked.  All we can do is be there for his twin brother and family.  This year has been frought with tragedy so far and this is a big one for all of us at work. I've worked with him 7-8 years and for this to happen is a great shock for several of us in the group. Even his closest friends outside of work are dumbfounded.

I will pray for you and your friend.  Had a similar incident happen just months out of high school where I had a close friend killed in a car accident. Turns out the other 2 I the car were twins and one was killed while the other survived.  That was a rough one for me to handle having just moved 2200 miles away.

All we can do is be there for the survivors and remember those we have lost in a good light, the way we knew them.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Times are tough right now.

A lot of guys don't want to share the problems they are having.
