Good looking Jeep!
I want a TJ pretty bad, but here they seem expensive and hard to find nice ones |

Awesome!
I've been looking for a TJ recently but all the decent ones I've found locally are a few thousand more dollars than I can spend. |

Just got a 4.0 back from the machine shop this week. This one is going in a CJ. The world was better when dashes were made out of a single flat piece of steel. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

My wife drives the black version of that exact Jeep. 70,000 origianl miles. She babies it and loves it. She says she'll never get rid of it but wants something newer for a daily driver. I support the idea 100% because if that happens, the Jeep becomes a toy and I get turned loose on it. My wife is awesome.

I had a 98 Damn, I miss her Sold it several years ago. Last summer, I saw it. It was my old jeep, with my mods. fuck...it was like running into an old girlfriend, and she's still really hot. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/derek45/jeep/11aa98jeepTJ005.jpg View Quote Looking at a 2002 like this, if the guy will return my call. |

I drove my YJ to the dealership, to buy a TJ, becuz I wrecked my XJ that morning.
After the test drive the salesman asked "how did you like it?" "Hated it". Salesman: Me: "I'll take it" I wasn't lying. I HATED the inner door skins and the seat risers. |

I'd post pics but this site sucks ass for posting pics. How about a "browse photos like every other fucking BB?

Jeep guy here. TJ's are great but '99-'01 4.0 engines had problems with the cylinder head cracking between the rocker bosses. Would take 150K or so for the crack to cause a problem but then the minute leak of antifreeze into the lube oil would take out the cam bearings and the oil pressure goes away. Chrysler changed casting suppliers late in '01 but kept the same casting number so the only way to tell which head is on an engine is to pull the valve cover and look for the supplier ID logo. This problem is prevalent enough that aftermarket suppliers tooled up to produce replacement cast iron heads. And Edelbrock has an aluminum head for about $1100.
I bought a lightly wrecked 2000 with the intention of fixing it for a driver but, between the discovery that the frame was diamond by 10mm from the crash, the oil pressure issue and the fact that the auto trans was a POS non-overdrive unit, I came to the conclusion that it was a money pit. I dumped it for a $1000 loss and was happy to see it go. I'll keep working on my 5-speed YJ's. |
