Wow!!! That is amazing! |
He must have seen the momma in the woods, he reacted very quick but he missed.
No way he missed on purpose. |
That's fucking scary! I can't imagine only shooting one time! ( and he missed! )
Jebus.
I wanted to go for my sidearm just watching that. The fight instinct when she blows out onto the water.... FAST and pissed, too. Got damn. I bet he had underwear filled with diamonds form the clenched up butt that has to accompany that kind of incident. |
that was a cool video the big foot one was fake just looks like a hunter
PETA: People don't need firearms in bear country, bells and bear spray works much better than any firearm ever would.
I'd have to change my pants after that. |
They got lucky, he probably wouldn't have had a chance for another shot.
+1 - rubber boat full of poo turtles!!! |
If that revolver was a 500 he wouldn't need one. |
So missing a bear with a 500 is the same as hitting a bear with any other round? |
Well, since the first one went into the water... |
Pretty fast attack , just 2 seconds of fumbling would have been bad.......
those are some damn lucky SOBs in that little yellow raft they were almost dinner
People have used arrows and spears to kill much larger beasts. |
Yea, but are there people who do it today? |
pick your excuse: "Just a weather balloon/swamp gas/dog with mange." "stealth camera was drunk" "If it existed we would have discovered it by now" "photoshop!" "bear with hemeroids" |
Three guys with AK-47's are more effective than 20 with spears. Just ask the park rangers in Africa |
Yes, I have a friend that bow hunts grizzlies in Alaska. |
Thats pretty cool.
Don't it take a while before a grizzly dies after you shoot it with arrows, and don't you need to get very close to him to get a proper hit? |
Looks familiar: |
damn straight, if he did shoot into the water intentionally he was taking a big big risk. No way he would of got another shot off. Talk about a butt clenching encounter. |
Depends on what you consider close? I'd say 40-50 yards is a reasonable distance for the average bow hunter. Shot placement is obviously the key. |

1) I'm glad they are ok.
2) Glad momma bear didn't get hurt either. 3 cubs on their own is kind of sad. - BG |
Yup. One of the most dangerous things to see in the wild is a bear cub...because a ferocious full-grown momma bear willing to fight to the death is lurking near by. |
Wow! Amazing. The Bear just appeared out of nowhere. Amazing the guy was that quick, because had it taken another 2 seconds that Bear would have been right on top of him.
From now on, any time I go into the deep woods, I will have my AR. |
Yeah, and ancient humans used to hunt Mammoths with spears as well and those animals were gargantuan |
I'll have a carbine, too, but I'm thinking of something .30 caliber at least. Dang I never imagined a bear could come out of nowhere so fast. |
That guy must have had the pistol sitting in his lap. I sure didn't see any holster action on his part. If that pistol was in a holster, he might not have had time to draw and fire as fast as that bear was coming. |
Good point. That would have tipped me off to grab the 300 win mag. Probably the same thing that set that guy off to be ready. |
He had it in his hand. I am sure he grabbed it as soon as he saw the cubs off camera, he Cocked the hammer back with hiis left hand as she charged. |
Only if the bears thumb was near the cylinder |
The guys in the boat knew what was up. You can hear them talking 'c'mon, lets go, lets get out of here.......' |
If i ever see a bear cub in my life, in the wild. Im locking and loading and getting ready. I hope to god ill be armed in the first place.
Probably had it in a holster but grabbed it as soon as he saw the cubs. I would have. You have 3 little guys like that and mom is sure to be close by. I guessing the warning shot was intentional since he knew he was being filmed and orphaning 3 cubs, even though it was pure self-defense would be sad under any circumstances (might as well shoot 'em on the spot) but even worse if the tape had made it to the wrong hands. He had time for a follow-up if she didn't turn. If it really was a warning shot he showed exceptional control since I know I would have forgot about the cubs and went for that big head. |

Forst thing first Best weapon for this situation would have been:
1. AKS74U great for close range rapid mag dump plus being on a raft with a folding stock. Second thing is he may have hit the bear and said he was shooting a warning shoot. How would we ever know the difference. Footage was not clear to ever tell what happend. Imagine if he did hit the bear and admits it after reviewing the tape, what type of shit storm it would bring to that guys hunting career. |
