In the preview, it reminds me of District 9. I'll go see this eventually.

The Battle

What part reminds you of District 9?
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 6:07:02 PM EST
I hope it's good. I'm needing some good ass kicking sci-fi.
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 6:17:42 PM EST
I'll be seeing this one.

I need to pick up a giftcard from the theater for my little brother's birthday Sunday. Might go see it Friday while I'm there if it's not too crowded.

I sort of agree with the OP. The way they edited the trailers for District 9 it looked like it was going to be an all out alien invasion or something. And all it was about was some paper pusher turning into Michael Jackson.

Let's hope it's better than D9
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 7:49:39 PM EST
Meh. I'm tired of movies about aliens invading. Would be better if it were a Chinese sneak attack.
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 7:55:05 PM EST
I will be at the theater this Friday. I hope it lives up to the billing.
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 7:56:36 PM EST
Taking my 3 boys to watch it on Sunday.
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 9:30:53 PM EST
Didn't care for District 9, so I hope it's totally different.

District Nine and Monsters with a touch of Cloverfield thrown in for good measure.

It's an allegory of the (illegal) alien invasion of the US, Europe, etc. It is an invasion that threatens to destroy us. <–– yeah, that part.
Link Posted: 3/9/2011 10:20:10 PM EST
Oh I thought it was D9 part II. Good to know that it is not, or I would have been pissed/ lost when I watched it.

Does it destroy mass square miles of third world ghettos, and catapult the millions of illegal aliens back home?

Fooking prawns

Link Posted: 3/10/2011 6:13:01 AM EST
2+ hours of shaky cam and bad dialogue. I can't wait!

Independence Day was mediocre the first time around, but I'll probably see this version2.0 anyway.

I'm hoping the aliens (the ones from outter space) blow up Dodger and Angels stadium...

Hey Dawn...

GO GIANTS!!!

Link Posted: 3/10/2011 6:56:37 AM EST
I plan on seeing it.

Lets hope it doesn't have a message.

Like the aliens are tired of us allowing man made global warming and are kicking our ass to set us straight.
Link Posted: 3/10/2011 6:58:28 AM EST
Read somewhere that the actors went to a two week marine boot camp to get the weapons handling and terminology down...

We'll see...

Looks like I'm waiting for Netflix.

Nope.

They are greedy, white frogs, bent on imperialist domination at the expense of the poor Latino L.A. population.

Roger Ebert panned the film, giving it half of one star, heavily criticizing the writing, effects designs, camerawork and editing, stating "Generations of filmmakers devoted their lives to perfecting techniques that a director like Jonathan Liebesman is either ignorant of, or indifferent to. Yet he is given millions of dollars to produce this assault on the attention span of a generation."

Netflix for me also.

bad reviews and all i'll prob go see it with my dad anyway. I generally dont let reviewers decide if i go or not o prefer to draw my own conclusion.
Link Posted: 3/10/2011 7:20:08 PM EST
some douche named ne-yo is in it, so I won't see it
Link Posted: 3/10/2011 7:21:24 PM EST
There’s something oddly refreshing about a war movie that makes no effort to humanize its characters. Pity the entire movie is made from the parts of a dozen other, better movies, and shot in a manner that suggests the cameraman is riding a pogo stick.

I'll pass.

He and I seldom see movies the same.

Duh...Hollyweird isn't original anymore.

This is Skyline, Independence Day, War of the Worlds all wrapped into one. But I will still see it because it's SciFi and it's something all ARFCOMMERS wanna see. Whether it's the Zombie or Alien invasion, this is still a training film.

Skyline was written by the same writers of B:LA.

B:LA looks like a worthy rental.

Skyline had hotties, the creatures were cool, but the POV from those mororns was garbage.

This looks like the POV from the .mil. Moving today and tomorrow, working tonight, but I'm taking my 3 boys on Sunday.
