I didn't read the story but my guess is it involves Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys, Stupidity, and tinfoil.

Statistics don't lie.

I don't know. Since we're in the business of bombing (make that "liberating") other countries, it seems a lot safer to do it while our guys are flying desks in Montana away where the enemy can't touch them. We could do the same thing for space craft in earth orbit so any enemy sattelites can be taken out really fast. In fact I'm gonna be really disappointed if we haven't got hunter killer sattelites up there already. No reason to carry people if we can do remote control with enough reliability.

Just don't start installing AIs in em, and I don't think we'll have to worry too much about skynet.

I predict Apple's Siri will morph into skynet.

You ever notice that all these social crusaders always want to ban entire branches of military technology where the United States has vast advantages over its enemies.

Hmmmm......I wonder how hard it would be to mount a suppressed .22lr to a quadrotor........for Squirrels of course.

That's what this is about. Fully autonomous war machines. It doesn't seem like the greatest idea to me.

I always thought they should add a 4th law of robotics- robots can't be bulletproof

As long as you are on their side, it'd be cool. Though I don't think w will have advanced in AI that much in 20 years, but looking at the past 20 years, who knows?

When my computer has a glitch, I just reboot the thing. That might be hard to do if it was totally autonomous and shelling my position.

In the Terminator storyline, Skynet was originally installed by the military to control the U.S. national arsenal on August 4, 1997. On August 29 it gained self-awareness, and the panicking operators, realizing the extent of its abilities, tried to pull the plug. Skynet perceived the attempt to deactivate it as an attack and came to the conclusion that all of humanity would attempt to destroy it. To defend itself, it determined that humanity should be exterminated.
