The city’s top cops now acknowledge they repeatedly ordered officers not to engage rioters at all, even as they looted stores, burned buildings and attacked police, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday.
“There’s an amount of discipline necessary to navigate your way through a civil disturbance,” Deputy Commissioner Kevin Davis told the paper. Police Commander Anthony Batts has continuously denied giving his force a “stand down” order, which would essentially tell them to withdraw. But commanders say they were told “do not engage” and to “hold the line” — in other words, stay together as a human barrier, with no officers allowed to step out to confront or arrest a protester. View Quote The riots resulted in injuries for about 160 officers and brought millions of dollars in damages to local businesses.
Several officers have filed workers' compensation claims for the injuries they suffered. "They were getting pummeled there, and there were commanders behind them saying, 'Don't engage,'" the officers' attorney Warren Alperstein told the Sun. The police union has requested documents and radio transmissions from those chaotic nights, to determine exactly who commanded what. View Quote |

These poor fuckers were standing on the line in the street with absolutely no law enforcement purpose.
Those 160 injured must feel pretty great knowing they were considered expendable cannon fodder. |

1. Government at every level is intimidated by the social justice warrior political class and the protected underclass that sustains them. 2. The police will not protect you. 3. You are on your own. |

Commanders protecting their own asses. They knew if one of their officers did something that even had the appearance of brutality or malfeasance that they'd get thrown under the bus right with them.

Insurance companies have a right to refuse all claims then.
"Elections have consequences" should be the reply for all claims by the insurance providers. Let the city pick up the tab being they chose to "allow room to destroy". Why should the rest of us pay higher premiums for self inflicted damage? |

and yet when people riot after a football/basketball game at university of Maryland the PG police have zero problems releasing a barrage of pepper spray balls to disperse the crowd.
