So my wife has been missing one of her scarfs for the last week.

Tonight she came running to me to show me that one of our babysitters posted a pic on facebook wearing a scarf that looks identicle.

Wife is sure that babysitter is a thief now, I'm thinking coincidence or accident. There's much more valuable things laying around the house to steal than a scarf.

Thoughts GD.

UPDATE: Wife dumped out daughters 4 piggy banks today and all paper cash in them is missing, somewhere in the neighborhood of 600-700 in their by our estimates.

Now I'm pissed.

Here I thought that someone was stealing babysitters.

Link Posted: 11/21/2012 9:03:24 PM EST

So why is your wife stalking your babysitter on Facebook?

Link Posted: 11/21/2012 9:03:55 PM EST
We are going to need photographic evidence of the wife wearing the scarf and the babysitter wearing said scarf.
Link Posted: 11/21/2012 9:04:27 PM EST
Worse yet, I think your babysitter might be an engineer...

Or he was sitting there staring at the baby sitters pics, and his wife took it wrong and .... geeze, why do people think everyone is like us? He's prolly a pretty nice guy.
Link Posted: 11/21/2012 9:26:51 PM EST
Babysitter is a teen, right?

Teenage girl isn't a pro. Not looking to steal the most valuable thing in the house. She probably saw the scarf and snagged it because she liked it and figured your wife wouldn't notice.

babysitter is 21 and I work with her husband, both are very active in their church.

Set up video cam in living room.
Hire babysitter again.
Show her the pics.
Punish her on video.
Sell the video to Arfcom.
Profit.

Shit, is the babysitter over 18?

She just wants to look cool, you are already giving her money.

It is " possible " that it is NOT your wifes scarf.

Set up video cam - place wadded up 50 buck bill on floor in hallway.

Find truth.

I don't believe it's a sin to use extortion with thieves ....
Her husband will be wondering why she's washing your car and doing your shit work for a month.

I left $200 in 20's on the counter for the first week that she was watching my daughter.

I leave cash in the unlocked man cave downstairs on my desk.

Of course you know - that she knows the cash would have been missed.
Unlike swiping the scarf, which would probably not be missed. If you ditch a wadded up 20 on the floor - you will find out.

I did this to a co-worker - He failed miserably, and continued to lie even though two of us WATCHED HIM.
The bill was a 20... I scanned one side, then folded it, and dropped it... then told everyone present " I can't find a 20 ... check the floor ".
He found it about 5 minutes later - then was only " slightly " embarrassed after I called him on it - then Proved it - because the bill was white bond paper on the back side.

Maybe it's a coincidence. If she was a thief I am sure she would have gone after much more valuable things than a scarf. Plus you work with her husband and attend the same church, I don't think that she would take something so small that could screw her over.

With all that cash she has, you think she could buy her own scarf.

Seriously though, I hope you get to the bottom of it. I hate thieves.

To be fair I am going to need pics of the wife and babysitter and the infamous scarf.

I don't know why so many people think that she didn't steal anything just because there are more valuable things around to steal. It's alot easier to get away with stealing something small or less noticable. It's also a whole lot easier for some people to justify taking something that seems small. That's why people who'd never think of hauling out a company computer out the door tend to think nothing of walking out with a pocket full of pens.

Joker and I are thinking similar thoughts on this issue.

Does your wife wipe your ass, tie your shoes and do simple math for you also? Or is your lack of common sense and reasoning just a coincidence?

A professional thief will steal something and move something else into place so you do not notice the missing item, don't ask me how I found out.

One daughter, yes that in paper cash, probably another hundred or so in change. At the end of every day I throw whatever change from the day in there, and any cash we were given when she was born, and the cash she got for her first birthday.

On a serious notes, it sucks that the OP's babysitter is probably stealing from his family.

This probably isn't going to turn out very well.
