Hope it's not a dupe - being debated on TV now!!

Thanks for the heads up.

Ever wonder if the only reason they don't want guns in DC is because they think they'll be a rise in violence against THEM???

think it'll go anywhere? I read somewhere yesterday or monday that a similar measure was tabled in the Senate and the conclusion of the author was that therefore any measure in the house was merely symbolic (presumably because the author felt that even if passed by the house, the Senate would kill it). I don't have a source, sorry... any educated guesses?

It's something to attach a new AWB to maybe I don't know. I can;t think of 44dems that I would consider gun friendly so.......

By the way can anyone tell me if any of the dems that signed on to it are from Wisconsin and who they are. I'm at work c-span feeds don;t work here.

Even Carol Mosley Braun is for it (even though she isn't in the Senate anymore), she mentioned something about the 2nd Amend. in an article I read.

The non representitive representative from DC just made an ass out of herself, basically portraying her district's residents as incompetent and untrustworthy with firearms. What a shame. I believe they are taking a recorded vote now. If someone has the results soon, please post them.

Is there anything anti-gun attached to this. I can't believe the number of Dems in favor of this without some more hidious national anti gun attachment added on.

If there was, would there be so many Reps for it? I doubt it.

Perhaps this is the Democrats finally realizing that gun control is a losing issue, AND that Bush is gonna POUND Kerry.

IIRC, the party that wins the presidency tends to do pretty well in the House and Senate elections. IF this is so, then Democrats sponsoring a pro-gun bill is an attempt by them to lure a few pro-gun voters to vote Democratic in House and Senate races.

I have trouble believing the alternative, i.e., that the Democrats have "seen the light".
