According to various news sources; Republican Representative Brian Babin of Texas' 36th District has introduced a bill to give members of Congress reciprocity to carry a firearm in the Nation's Capital City.

The bill allows Congress and only Congress to be able to carry in Washington DC. Normal everyday Americans need not apply. Furthermore, the Chief of the Capitol Police will issue a permit to Congress and tax payer fund shall be assigned to fund for their personal training.

So just to clarify here. We have a member of Congress submitting a bill that would grant them a special exemption and carve out and on top of that get tax payer funded self defense training.

Rep. Babin stated that he was sent to Congress by the voters because they wanted their country back. I wasn't aware that submitting bills that only benefited the political elite was being the voice of the people.

Rep. Babin stated to TheHill.com:

"The tragic events of last week make it clearer than ever that we need to take steps to enable members of Congress to protect themselves," Babin said in a statement. "With the increase in security threats to members of Congress and our staffs, this is an important and necessary step that we must take."

Members of Congress would be able carry firearms in most places under the bill, even areas where guns are typically prohibited. That would include federal parks and buildings, the National Mall, lawmakers’ offices, schools and military bases.

So now we have three Republican members of Congress from three pro gun States publicly supporting for a Congressional Carve Out. Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama, Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, and now Rep. Brian Babin of Texas. All three are Republicans of course.

Here's an idea. Instead of submitting bills that grant special exemptions for the few. How about actually doing what you campaign to do and push for real national reciprocity for all Americans.

As a member of the law enforcement community I am covered under the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act. When it was passed, many stated that it would eventually lead to full reciprocity carry rights for all Americans. It has been thirteen years since the passage of LEOSA. That along with all the other special exemptions and carve outs cops get with magazine bans and gun bans. We know that carve outs for the government elites and their agents don't ever help the average American.

This is wrong. Rep. Babin is wrong. I personally do not support this and I want National Reciprocity for ALL AMERICANS. Not just the political elite.

No. Hell, NO!

Pass national reciprocity. Everyone can carry. They are covered, we are covered. It's the only reasonable solution.

It's not the target of an assassination that needs to be armed, it's the bystanders. Most likely the target won't see it coming.

*But both need to be armed.

Maybe I should run for congress. I think I can pull off being a slimey politician long enough to get into office and then bam turn into a vulgar vindictive ass who calls out every democrat I can see... might get kicked out the club but dayum Thad be. Fun

We in Texas should replace him with someone better.

On the Bright side, this may just be the foot in the door for us all to get "carry" in DC.

Our lawmakers really need a reality check.  They should be concerned for their safety, like the rest of us.  How fuck do we teach these people that they are just citizens, like the rest of us?

LOL.... still waiting on LEOSA to help. Or maybe the mag bans exemptions to help.

Congress will do no such thing.

Exemption to ObamaCare.... we're still fucked.

Exemption to Insider Trading.... Martha Stewart goes to jail.

Next thing you know. The Chattel will be asking for the ability to insider trade.

If this legislation was to become law, and a client with standing came to you, and of so inclined you agreed to bring forth an action, could you make a case? Is it possible to argue precedent? Could that create some degree of probability, however slight?

So other than sandbagging Texas because of a storm I see you are doing to same to our rights. Your bill to give Congress a special carve out to carry in Washington DC is wrong. National Reciprocity for all AMERICANS!As a Police Officer, I do not approve. For 13 years LEOSA has granted cops a carve out to carry nation wide and now your bill creates another carve out for a select few.I'm running for the NRA to push for more rights for ALL AMERICANS. It was just barely introduced before the weekend.  Not sure why you're speaking in the past-tense.  It's a bill currently up for consideration at the same time as this one.  It gives us an actual object to support and point to as an alternative to the bill in your OP.

I don't see.it happening. You have LEOSA, all the exemptions cops get, exemptions the military get for age when it comes to CCWs in some.states, Congressional exemptions to Insider trading, et,....

The Courts are cool with having a ruling class.
