Alright, I'm so damn excited that I have to share with you fine gentlemen what I'm picking up on Monday night.

Infiniti G35 Coupe with 6 speed manual, diamond graphite exterior, graphite heated leather, sunroof, aero package, aero kit, 18" wheels, 225 watt Bose stereo, auto climate control, BREMBO BRAKES(!), LSD, and here's the best part...280HP/270 ft lb of torque!

I was hoping to pick it up today, but they have to prep it or some shit like that.  Know what that means?  I pay an extra $110 in taxes because my county is raising taxes by 1/4%.  I told him to eat the difference, so right now he's "looking into it."  Know what means in my language?  HE BEST BE DOING IT!

Cool car, Balzac.  Congrats!

Now, time to schedule time at my driving school so you can learn to wring out the full potential of your new ride!

Think its funny?  It was a SERIOUS prerequisite that this car MUST be able to tote my guns around!  I didn't buy the Nissan 350Z because of that!  I actually measured my gun cases and measured the trunks.  Bye Bye Beamer, Nissan 350Z and TT.  I can even fold the seats down and pack in even MORE stuff! (Snowboards, more cases, ammo boxes, etc)

So even though a gun rack wasn't in the equation, my guns were a serious part of it!  Oh yeah, the back seat is even inhabitable!  I could fit back there and I'm 6'2".

Nice friggen buy.
That engine is baddass. My friend has the Z-car and it has teh same engine.
That's the engine I always wanted, a V6 with V8 HP and Ft/lbs.

If the exhaust system is the same is the Zcar, TAKE OFF THE MUFFLER!!

Between all the cats and the resinator, the car isn't much louder without the muffler esp under normal driving conditions but it sounds like a modded supra or other high-end V6's with turbo's when you floor it.

Infiniti has always made some cool cars, but I know that some of their lines have had QC issue's in the past, this whole new line of cars is turning out to be very reliable and classy as hell if you ask me.

Have fun.

Edit to say: If those are the same brembo's as the Z-car(I'm sure they are), those just aren't "brembo brakes", the fronts are 4-piston brembo's, which means you have one of the fastest stopping production rides on this planet.

Thanks for your enthusiasm guys!

And yes, it is the 4 piston kit like you mentioned.  The Motortrend stats have it at 112' 60-0, which beats most cars out there!  Coupled with 0-60 in 5.5 secs, I'm hoping to not get any tickets, but I know that's a pipe dream.

Mustang, RX8 and G35, right?  The story they did on tv was the one I was reading from the magazine.  That tv piece was the overwhelming reason I went with it.  Did you see how it carved those corners?  SHWING! [;)]

Yep, thats the one. I like the styling and the handling. The RX8 is nice, but it really lacks the cool factor of the G35.

And the torque difference doesn't hurt either....110 ft lbs is a world of difference!

Can you believe it beat the G35 AND Mustang Cobra in the end? [rolleyes]  Looks like C&D are on the Mazda payroll!

I own an Infiniti.

The reason they call them Infiniti's is because that's the average cost of repairs.

I am NOT particularly impressed with this car's reliability and inescapable Japanese-style use of space, particularly under the hood.   It's an infuriating car to work on,  and every time you open the hood you'll be spending 250 bucks on it, at the very least!

But it does drive well and handles like it's on rails.    However, it's a Japanese dent box and its survivability in even a light collision is practically nil.   Body repairs, should they be necessary, are HORRIBLY expensive.

My long-term view of the car is that I wouldn't buy another Infiniti, nor would I give one  a particularly good recommendation.

Enjoy your toy, and I hope for your sake that you sell it before it becomes the problem car that it is destined to eventually become.

Oh, and rip out that nasty sounding Bose sound system and throw it in the trash where it belongs.   Put in a decent aftermarket system (Pioneer, with Polk speakers, as a suggestion) and you'll have something worth listening to.

You know, I thought I was the only one who likes the look of the G35 better than the 350Z.  One other major difference:  the G35 has a back seat.  The 350Z is a two-seater.

I dont know how the G35 was beat by the RX8, but beating the Mustang was easy, that car stopped being cool a long time ago.

Excellent! I hope you never have to offroad in that thing.

Of course, living in 'the city', offroading for you means driving over a patch of weeds in a parking lot near Central Park. [:D]

yeah I think the Infinit 350Z 2+2 looks way better than the Nissan coupe too

just a little longer wheelbase & the interior from the G35 sedan

Thanks again guys!  Anything with roots in the Skyline GTR can't be all that bad, even if its naturally aspirated and RWD.

CMJohnson, I'm aware of the Infiniti maintenance costs, since my mother has an I30, but compared to the BMW's, Audi's, Nissans and Jaguars I was looking at, this car is much easier to maintain.  The only other cars I was looking at were the Hondas/Acuras, which didn't have anything NEAR the performance/luxury level of this car.

Plus, its way cheaper than the German cars and is far more reliable....hopefully!

Yes, that C&D comparo was pretty lame, the Cobra should have easily walked away with the win, it won virtually every test category.  The G35/350Z are pretty nice, but they need a turbocharged model with enough power to really stand out though.  The base, what is it 276hp? just doesn't quite cut it.  Too many cars with near that power now.  I hear a turbo model is forthcoming though, should be awesome.
