Three views from surveillance cameras at Chickamauga dam. They're time lapse, so they appear faster than they actually were. This was Tuesday evening, the 26th.

This is looking west toward downtown:

This is looking northwest under the bridge that crosses the dam. Watch the white buildings in the foreground :

And this is looking northeast. You can see the funnel drop out of the bottom of the cloud as it goes over the ridge:

Those buildings just pretty much disappeared. Was there anyone in them?

No, they were temporary buildings for the construction of a new, bigger lock in the dam, and shifts were over for the day. Temporary for sure! There were five people injured in cars around there, and a LOT of structural damage to houses and apartments northeast of the dam.

Fast motion sucks.  The video would be a whole lot cooler at normal speed.

Dam,

Can you imagine being on a boat in the river while that twister is approaching...

Run forest run...

As usual, it scored a direct hit on the only trailers in the neighborhood..............

I was in the Kangaroo Convenience store just over the hill when it came through.

The tornado hopped over the hill and took out some apartments about 300 yards away
from where I was standing. Adrenaline dump, but no blading involved. It was amazing.

What's awesome is that you see the windows blow in, just a second before the trailers take flight.

Makes you want to move to tornado alley and buy a mobile home.

I know that one well. My wife works for Hamilton County Parks and Rec, and she said Riverpark took a hell of a hit, too. Lots of trees down.

talked to my dad earlier and he watched the damn thing form down stream over the river and was parallel for about 2 miles, then dropped just out of his sight...if it had dropped there, it would have been a MAJOR catastrophe... lucky it dropped there at the dam and just infront of that hill, less it woulda kept rolling along. i live about 2miles from the dam and it was CRAZY for 2 minutes then just stopped and the sun came out. fucking nature; how does it work?!?!?!

Very cool. I hope to never see that kind of raw power in person.
