Well I have an awesome idea, you might not like it, but F YOU!!

Well anyway a year back or so I had a 2001 Dodge Dakota, extended cab with the 4.9 liter engine.
I loved that truck, and for a truck it was pretty fast.

Well I want some sort of, althought I hate to use the word, BOV.

So I have a plan.
I want to buy a used Dakota, ext cab, 4x4 preferablly low mileage, but doesnt matter if engine is blown.
Then I wanna get a 5.7 liter hemi out of a totaled truck, and put it into the truck.

Im sure itd require alot of work, but I think itd be worth it.
The thing would fly!!!!
And it would be able to go off road.

I have read that it is perectly doable.

So those of you that are into this stuff, how much do you think it would cost (the installation that is).

Its prob just a dream, but I really want to do it.

Why not just buy a 4.7l Dakota and then check out http://www.airram.com/index.php?

My awesome idea for a Dakota involves a road flare and 3gallons of kerosene

If you knew anything about what was involved in such a swap you'd choose a vehicle a great deal cooler than a Dakota to focus your efforts and money on.

My Friend did that with his 2002 Dakota. He also did some internal work on the motor and it just hauls ass.

having followed swaps into cars for the 5.7 and the 6.1 hemi, it isn't cheap.
also it is wider then the standard magnum motor and most times requires notching the frame where the exhaust comes out on the driverside.

Engine, computer and hookups probably transmission, will run near the 6 to 7k range. That is a stock setup.

Getting it in will probably run a couple grand more. so just under 10k to put one of those in.

It was cheaper to drop a 5.9 in then the hemi. ran about 3k. no od trans though. you could turn it into a 408 stroker motor and be pretty competitive against anything, and still be under 8k.

Worse than an old Pinto big block swap.  What an ugly vehicle to try to project on...
