I'm looking at a truck 1,000 miles away in Louisiana. It clearly hasn't been mudded but does this rust look concerning? It's a 2006 F-250.

Please give time for pics to load one at a time. I don't have great cell service and no wi-if.

Thank you. Attachment Attached File

I have more but I think that gets the point across.

There's zero rust on the body.

Rust doesn't look that bad to me but it does look like the rear main seal on the motor might be leaking some.

Duratracs in Louisiana = beach truck to me, ymmv. It does look to be pretty normal surface rust for that sort of vehicle.

That's not rust.

Look at an 06 that lived in NY it's whole life if you want to see rust.

The stuff in the pics can be fixed with a layer of kerosene.

Bolts dont look rusted or screwed to hell.

Looks like minor surface rust for the cast parts and the parts that are closest to heat sources.

About normal.

Looks like rear main seal might need some attention.

Assuming you know what you're getting into with the 6.uh oh and the price is good, I'd buy it.  Sharp truck.

If I were you I'd make sure to take a good look at the transverse alternating axle joint.

I wouldn't buy anything from LA/MS/AL unless its 2007 or newer.  Its POSSIBLE (unlikely but possible) a 2006 model was around in late August/Early September 2005.

I don't know jack. The two trucks I've owned were little toyotas. A 2.2r and a V6 Tacoma.

I'm researching like crazy. Seems like people have something bad to say about every manufacturer and every motor.  It's hard to sort it all out.

What all all has been done to the engine in the truck?  Once a 6.0 had been "bullet proofed" it is a damn good engine.  If it is still stock expect problems at some point.  $4-6k to fix correctly.

Spend some time on the Powerstroke forums, you'll learn a lot.
