I've been thinking about this one for a few days as a possibility on the 22nd, tell me what you think:

China needs Irans oil in a very desparate way. Do you think it would be in China's interests to provide a nuke and technicians to Iran so that Iran would have a "test detonation" on their own in Iran? Policy toward Iran changes the INSTANT they detonate a nuke in testing, it might be worth a few billion dollars in oil to the ChiComs to set them up with a shot in their back yard to keep us in line and guarantee their oil source.

Know what's going to happen on August 22?

A whole lot of nothing.

Count on it, prepare for it, be ready.

Nothing.

I'd say you are at least 90% right, just doing a little Porch Racing here.

China would have too much to lose. They can't afford economic sanctions, considering the majority of their markets is in other countries.

They might think they could get away with it... an actual warhead is small enough to deliver in a regular vehicle, drive or fly to Iran, put on truck, drive to research building, drive out to test sight during sattelite overlook periods with support and scientists in tow, touch it off and no one is the wiser.

Yup, that's the cold hard $$ reality there. If China really puts on the gloves and wants to box, they'll find themselves completely cut off from the tit. That'll hurt BAD, and then they'll have millions upon millions of people who want to know why their government fucked up their country overnight.

We don't like to admit it here on ARFcom, but all our "made in China" buying has made them very very dependant on us, our consumers and at the same time made their population drunk on commercialism. Recipe for the ruination of Communism.

I'm sure that if China and Iran were working on something together, our intelligence would have picked up on their communications.

Who knows though, maybe I give our intelligence community too much credit.

China is smart enough to do a deal like this in person, rather than over radio or phone lines. I think people don't give China enough credit...

I don't see what China would have to gain by such a proposition. Honestly, I think they'd have more to loose. Iran would probably be invaded, WWIII would break out, and oil markets would be distrupted.

Even if WWIII didn't break out, all the uncertainty of Iran going nuclear would probably drive oil prices through the roof, something China doesn't want to see. There would be too much disruption to current trade markets for China to hatch such a plan with Iran.

I think Iran may invade Iraq. They've already got their troops moving using the ploy of wargames.

That would be the most collossally stupid idea in the history of Arab nations. Nothing a poodle slapping the sleeping Rhino on the ass. Iran would get the asswhipping of all times. We're playing nice, minding the rules, but imagine when our gloves came off against a real army in a field of combat. Not pretty.

The Shiites are already fighting for control of Iraq. If they win, a theocracy will be formed just like Iran. Iraq under Saddam Hussein was, at least, secular. The US really screwed up this time.

I agree, but I think they may be believing the left wing BS of our media and their proxy win against Israel. They see a weakness and may wish to try and exploit it.

Secular my ass. They committed genocide against the Shia and Kurds. Taking out the major supporter of terrorism in the region and our biggest enemy at the time was a good move and logical in the war on middle eastern terror.

The point was that Iraq had a secular government under Saddam Hussein. The attacks against the Kurds and Shi'a were not religiously motivated.

Not religiously motivated? You obviously don't know much about it.

It was his oppression of shias and kurds that made them revolt. That oppression is based on thousands of years of religious bad blood.

If you don't know shit about it just admit it and let the adults talk. There's nothing worse than someone who just makes shit up when they don't know shit about the subject and continue to do so when called on it.

Why?

China was quite happy to test Pakistan's bomb for them at Lop Nor, I would imagine they would do the same for Iran if neccessary.

Both the Pakistan and Iran bomb are designs by A Q Khan which is a development of a Chinese design.

I can't see that happening.  China is still in the midst of colonizing and pacifying Sinkiang in northwestern China.  Since the indigenous population of Sinkiang is muslim the providing of nuclear weaponry to another muslim country, especially a radical one, would not be a good thing.  Maybe in another 10-20 years when the indigenous population has been exterminated but even then it would be dangerous.

The one thing to always remember about Asia is that they look at the long term.

The Kurds had been in revolt since before Iraq was a nation and the area was still part of the Ottoman Empire. Saddam Hussein's brutalization of the revolting Kurds and Shi'a were because of politics, not religion. Iraq needs a brutal dictator to keep the radicals from forming a nation based on their own ideals.

Persian, Arab--it doesn't  matter--they fought Iraq for eight years and got nowhere.  Nothing impressive there.

I've got an Idea: We'll let China invade Iran. They can have their cheap oil, and 90% of Muslim terrorism dissapears or is redirected overnight.

Go one further.  Allow them to reach an "arangement" for the supply of oil to China.  If anything hurts us, it's a simple task to stop China bound tanker traffic in the Indian Ocean or at choke points such as the Straits of Malacca.

All of which stems from religious differences. You have heard of his use of WMD's on his own people, right? That was before any revolt after Desert storm.

Why don't you stop spewing the DU talking points and do some research.
