My dad is a big fan, but owns no movies.  What's his best couple of movies he starred in?

Good flick, he portrays himself in a movie based on a book that he wrote about himself.

Everybody idolizes John Wayne [ me too ] but AM was the real McCoy.  JW was just an actor [ and that's all he ever purported to be ].  If AM had of been 6' tall he would have been the man in Hollywood [ if he had wanted to be ].

Try "No Name on the Bullet".

A B western with a better-than -usual story line.

Actually his best movie IMHO. Its only flaw is the spic-and-span cleanliness of the '50's westerns, nowhere "gritty" enough. If it were remade like a Sergio Leone movie, it'd be top-notch. Why doesn't Hollywood remake movies like these instead?

A "Saving Private Ryan"-type remake of "To Hell and Back" would be awesome...

I hear that he was a deadly pistolero too.

The marines rejected him because of his small size. Joined the army and blazed his way to glory. Most decorated soldier of World War II.

He was the real deal.
