My 3yo Rottweiler was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. She was gaining weight even when we would cut her food drastically and increase her exercise. She topped 150# and we took her to the vet. This was about 3 weeks ago. He put her on Thyroxin and we now have a brand new dog. Molly is acting her age again and has lost about 20# in the 3 weeks!
If you have a dog that is gaining weight regardless of all you can do, take the dog to the vet and get their Thyroid levels checked. You will be amazed at the change in your dog.

Can I use that excuse? Doc, I think it's not the Chicken Fried Steak and Mexican food..it's my thyroid!!!

Your condolences? I thought it was heredity from my Mom's side, combined with a penchant for eating too damn much and working 12 -14 hours a day and not having time to work out?
