I have been looking for a book series for the better part of 20 years now. When I was maybe twelve or thirteen I used to sneak my uncle's porn and books lots of books about L.R.R.P and SEALS during Vietnam, lots of Mac Bolan and a series about WW3 where the US and Russia are at war and they are fighting in giant armored mech suits. I think that they were a Air Force special forces group stationed at white sands. These books would be from the late 80's or early 90's. Do any of you great GDers know what this book series is called our know anyone who would. Thanks folks.

Shit... I JUST found them at a used bookstore down the road.  Can't remember the name but there's like 5-6 of them on the shelf.

eta- do you remember what they look like? Was it a book or two and longer novels? or was it shorter pulp style books (i.E. the Mack Bolan style) and larger number of books?

That fits the bill, too, and might be what the OP's talking about (since I guess it HAS been 20 years since then)

The were like the Mack Bolan books. I don't remember how many there were, I think I remember reading the of them but then he moved.

I think the title is the same acronym that is used for the mech suits.

I really liked those books and the Deathlands series by James Axler

Do you recall if the covers had a lot of white on them, especially the spine?

I'll hit the store tomorrow and see if they are still there (doubt they would be gone) and try to get a title for you.

Pretty sure that's it. Had a futuristic pistol on the cover of the books... at least the first one. I seem to remember they rode around on 3 wheelers.

Damn, I remember those books now.

OP, do yourself a favor and latch onto the "Hammer's Slammer's" series by my homeboy David Drake.

VERY gritty series about an Armored Cav Regiment of mercenaries.

Powerguns and fusion-powered air-cushion AFV's, Oh My!

Your welcome.

If you like SF about powered armor, check out the eponymous Armor by John Steakley.  Great book.  I've read it many times, but I just listened to it again on audio when I was driving around Yellowstone this fall.  Still great and the audio made me remember parts of the book I'd kind of forgotten about.
