Hey I don't know if this means anything or not but I have my cookies setting on a high privacy mode and I am informed anytime someone tries to install a cookie.
I was just informed that a ( si.edu ) and ( peta.org ) just tried to install cookies. They were refused of course but it seems odd that PETA would be trolling this site don't you?
I don't know what the hell si.edu is up to..... maybe a hack or something?
Please keep this on the front page until someone answers.

Hmmm, maybe Peta's been watching our dog and cat threads, lately?
I knew that little Fluffy would get us in Dutch some day!

Is this the only site you had open? I have a program that specifically detects cookies and it hasn't happened to me here.

Shadowblade:
Occassionally I cruise ebay or gunbroker when I am on ar15 but the cookie window always pops up from the site I am viewing at the time.
I only have a modem connection so I try and only change one window at a time to get maximum download capacity. I guess it is possible but why would a .edu which is education or school try to install a cookie?

What may be happening is that installed (spyware type) software is already on your pc and monitoring ads and what not.
Get AD AWARE (dunno the link and don't have time to check so someone update!) and run that. It will see what kinda crap has made it on your pc and is tracking where you go!

There's no way this site can generate cookies for OTHER sites... we have our own advertising server and so absolutely NOTHING on the site (except pictures people link into posts) are housed externally that would allow that to happen! [=D]

You only live once, but if you live right.. once is enough.

I have to ask - when this happened to you, had you very recently cleaned out all your internet cashe files? If not, the cookie that tried to set may not have had anything to do with AR15.com - could have easily have happened if you had been viewing any other site at the time.
