I'm not a fan of having different actors in sequels, it messes with the continuity a bit.

That being said I'll still want to see it.

edit: and I see part one had Armin Shimmerman, so maybe I'll watch that

but changing the entire cast is stupid as hell
they should have filmed this back to back like they did with LOTR

No shit. I liked the book and believe we're seeing a lot of the stupidity that Rand wrote about happening today. With that said I have to ask if it was really necessary to have a 2 page monlogue about the joys of capitalism every 10 pages? It was a battle to finish this book by the time I was half way through it.
I will say that the parallels to current society are kind of scary.

Seems like libertarianim is easy to film but objectivism is difficult.

Maybe that's why the book had so much discription of what the characters are thinking. Put their actions on film without knowing their thoughts and they look like Republicans.

I pictured Bones from the new star trek as Wyatt. As much as I hate to say it, I think Antonio Banderas would have done D'Anconia well. I'm still waiting on my call to play Danneskjold.

No I’m talking about today. If you look around we punish the most productive members of society. British Petroleum (BP) was drilling for light sweet crude in the Gulf of Mexico in deep water because of EPA regulations. Who do we punish the EPA for telling BP they could not drill closer to shore in shallow water or BP? BP of course for following the very regulations that made a spill harder to contain.

Shut down successful coal power plants reward failing solar cell companies.

Reward Failure Punish Success is the way this administration rolls.

And for those who climb on board saying it’s for the environment, you dumb asses can’t pass a algebra class.

Had to look some of them up to see who they were. Only names I recognised was Esai Morales, D.B. Sweeney and Robert Picardo.

I'll still watch it. First one was average at best, it felt rushed and had some pretty lackluster performances (coughDagnycough), so a complete recasting may be just what the movie needs.

Esai Morales as d'Anconia should be good.

The first movie was terrible. The point of Atlas Shrugged was to convey the dangers and idiocy of socialism and emotionalism over capitalism and rationalism. The plot was just a backdrop. The move however completely ignored the entire point of the book and just focused on the superficial plot itself. For example - the anniversary party scene. In the book, the point was to showcase how brain dead the supposed intellectuals and elite are. The movie skipped all of that dialogue and just showed a bunch of people standing around drinking and laughing. wtf?

I'm an Objectivist, so I was skeptical that it would be worth watching anyway. The films are only even potentially enjoyable for people who have read the book already, and that's not generally a recipe for box-office success.

I did like the actress that played Dagny in part 1.

Same here. I'd rather the cast stay the same. But I'll still watch it. No interest in reading the million page book, so the movie will have to do.

With the exception of Grant Bowler as Hank Rearden the casting for the first movie blew chunks right out of its ass. The chick who played Dagny was horrible and the guy they had playing Francisco looked like a bloated, flatulent turd.

The chick playing Rearden's wife Lillian was damn good though. I think they changed her out, not sure though. Picardo is good so that's a plus. I'll see it but since they pretty much felched the first part I don't have high hopes for the second part.
