Went from doing goat chores to heading for the hospital to have the next kid in a matter of about 5 minutes. Nice hospital with squared away nurses and midwives so should be a smooth delivery.

Good luck OP.  Try and get some rest good buddy, and don't let her insistent complaining wear you down.  You tell her its as hard on you as it is on her, being in the hospital all day not getting a decent nap in.  You have my sympathies regarding the couch sleeping there you'll have to endure.  The wife can't even begin to comprehend how uncomfortable those couches are.

Personally, my tender tummy gets upset when I had to eat out as much as I did when our kids were born.    But you know what?  Love doesn't keep score and I know that those day of her not cooking didn't reflect on her long term performance as a wife.  You tell yours that too.

Seriously though, good luck to ya'll!

Ah, just think, the next three years will be a pain. Then it will be nice for several years, then it will be a complete disaster. Then it will improve and just before you die it will be cool.

Seriously though, congrats man, hope it all goes smooth!  I love having kids. Best thing in life. Hope I’m not fucking them up too badly!

ETA: if we’re naming the kid, if it’s a girl, I highly recommend the name Calabugdong. Callie for short. My Filipino buddy refused to name his girl that. It’s one of the like 10000 Filipino islands. But if you have the opportunity to name a kid Calabugdong, you gotta take it!

We have a pile of them now.

Already picked a name for her, Gabriela. If she’s talks as much as her mother and sisters do I’ll just call her Gabby.

Second girl in 2 years, wife wants to try for another boy, but I can’t afford anymore after this one. We already don’t all fit in our Subaru Ascent and I’ve seen the prices of 12 passenger Transits.

Friend is a nurse who worked at the hospital where we had our kids. He came down from the Cath lab and pointed out it's nice to visit the only happy place in the hospital, never thought about it that way but it makes a lot of sense why the nurses are generally happy there.

Congrats! Hope it goes smoother than ours a few weeks ago.

They had to intubate the girl next door earlier. I think delivery sees some terrible situations as well.

Things still aren’t progressing, waiting to see if they force her into another C-Section.

I guess I should clarify it was in postpartum where he visited us not labor and delivery. The first kid never progressed after attempting to induce for 3 days so she ended up getting a c-section. The second time around she scheduled a c section on Feb 29th and when they gave her a spinal her heart stopped, had to do 3-4 chest compressions to get her going again. From what the wife described the anesthesiologist fucked up, 3-5 punctures into her back, and probably put some of the medicine into her blood stream.

oof. it does happen, on occasion. a few days ago, had a young lady at my spot come in after having an amniotic fluid embolism get transferred and hopefully she makes it. i’ve only seen two in my 10yr career.

they’re scary and often don’t survive 🥲

Things have gotten sporty around here as the day has progressed. Mom’s blood pressure has been dropping and babies heart rate has as well. Not sure what we’re heading for as the night moves forward. I’d like to see them just encourage her to go with another C-Section, but I’m holding my tongue until necessary.

Smart man.

The wife wanted a natural birth with no pain meds and had a midwife overseeing her, the midwife convinced her otherwise.

Based off how the OP is talking it sounds like they're trying to induce the birth.

Really?  My wife had 7 of our 9 children at our home with a midwife, and the other two were born at the midwifes house.  My wife was never encouraged to take any pain meds by the midwife, and would have refused if asked.

I have never heard of a midwife pushing pain meds, but ours are of a traditional mindset - as are we.
