This isn't from that dufuss reporter who thought it was like an atomic bomb going off at the end of his arm?

He makes it way more complicated than it needs to be. I also quit taking him seriously as soon as I saw "Air Force engineer"

Hmmm he appears to have mastered invisibility.
I guess once you've got that down there is no longer a need for the greatest and most versitle weapons platform ever disigned. |

The AR-15 and its parent rifle, the select-fire-capable M4 carbine, View Quote First fucking words in the article are full of stupid. |
|
TLDR: The M4 is too 'maintenance intensive' for him. He prefers the simplicity of an AK-47. Let's see who wrote this... Rick Dembroski I spent 10 of the best years of my life as a USAF Civil Engineer, traveling the globe, drinking beer, and causing chaos. My superiors dubbed me "King of Useless Knowledge" a title that I still love to this day. When I separated in 2002 I was a SSgt (E5), and chose to stay in the frozen north of Alaska. To date my hobbies include guns, photography, hockey and enjoying Gin & Tonics. Got it. Pogue ass motherfucker is too goddamn lazy to do things like 'lubricate his rifle', so he writes a retarded article about why a commie built POS is better than the AR-15. There are some good reasons to switch from the AR platform. "Itz too hard to maintenance on hurrrr" isn't one of them. |
|
Air force civil engineer bahahhahahhahahahahaha. Hey he can choose whatever he want, but his reasons were fucken stupid
|

View Quote lol after a whole 1k rounds he deems his AKM superior. Yea you can dig an AK up and dump some oil on it and it will sling bullets. No way it will sling them accurately though. You can easily do the same thing with an AR but since AR platform rifles are not used by druken untrained retarded plebs that bury their weapons for some reason it hasn't happened yet. |
|
Some of his points are a bit off. I get his complaint about the buffers and springs, but his argument against gas port diameter is silly. How many times does he think he will have to rebarrel his pdw?
|
|
Mehhh.....I suppose he is entitled to his opinion......lots of feelz and not much fact if you ask me.....bitching about all of the different variations does not make the base M4 inferior

To be fair, they only teach them that the AR15 and M4 aren't the same gun in year 11 of USAF Civil Engineering. |

I read the article with an open mind. It was full retard. He did not make a single logical argument. He bragged about being an air force engineer as if that gives him some credibility. I hate humanity just a little bit more after reading that garbage.

I got enough of what the article was about to not have to read it.

I stopped reading at "my career in the Air Force".
I know a retired career Air Force guy who swears that all 5.56 bullet tumble as they fly through the air. |

Yet, professionals around the world overwhelmingly choose the AR15 or something other than the AK.

He forgot to mention how nicely his AK fits in the garbage can near the water heater in his mom's basement.

I know that somewhere, someone is saying out loud that I am a dumb-ass or a communist.
So far, he's right on the money. hell, I even liked to clean guns Ah, now I trust that he knows what he's talking about Major corporations and military units typically have a robust supply system that can provide an individual any desired replacement part they may need. This is necessary, because the variation in parts from manufacturer to manufacturer is immense, making interchangeability difficult. Huh. Guess I was fooled into thinking that in-spec parts can be swapped easily. Shit, I've been wrong all along! The buffer spring and buffer weights alone have more than a dozen different variations depending on barrel length and number of coils on the buffer spring. Then, stop and consider the rifling twist rates in the weapon’s barrel and what projectile works optimally in them. Man, this is SO hard to keep track of! You mean I should use a carbine buffer when I'm using a carbine system? I have to figure out what ammo works best in my rifle? Dammit, this is confusing. I hate having choices. The pins used in the trigger and lower control group also have variations depending on manufacturer. Colt used a pin set with a larger diameter than other makers, while also making rifles with the industry-standard smaller-sized pins. Fuck, different PINS? Yup, not fit for battle. With the AKM/AK-47 family of rifles, buffer-spring variants from country to country don’t matter much, and it has no buffer weights to worry about. Problem solved. I only need to stock one style of spring, the same one used by most of the 100 million AK-47s that have been produced. This makes my overhead for long-term support of my rifles considerably less. Yeah, those buffers that I swap out all the fucking time have really broken the bank. And they wear out so fast! If I was part of an invading army, with thousands of people making sure I had what I needed to do the job properly, then by all means, the AR-15/M4 would be perfect. But I am not, and I don’t see myself being in that situation again. TIL that thousands of people at one time depended on the M4 of a USAF Civil Engineer. Often, people’s only exposure to AK-47 variants are poorly built imports. Most of these guns are full of major safety and functional issues requiring skilled gunsmiths to correct. Like anything mechanical in nature, cheap knockoffs will never meet the standard of the original. Wait, so you're saying that AK parts from different manufacturers aren't interchangeable? Man, that author completely changed my thinking on this topic. So glad he made those interesting points. |
|
He's bitching about the AR because there is too much variety of parts like multiple buffer spring weights and lengths and multiple buffer weights.
So? Have a couple spares for what you own and you're GTG. He's really reaching and has no valid objections. |
|
Parts for a rifle that is literally everywhere in the U.S. might be hard to find. Therfore I will adopt a platform that in this country has only ever been used by a handfull of civilian enthusiasts.
Sound logic I tell you. |

Air force civil engineer bahahhahahhahahahahaha. Hey he can choose whatever he want, but his reasons were fucken stupid View Quote A 10-year E5 is not a civil engineer (which is an officer position). He was probably a glorified construction worker--maybe he did some surveying or soil sampling in his time, but that's grunt work, not engineering. For all he's willing to divulge he could have been a torch monkey in the HVAC shop: no disparagement intended, I thoroughly enjoyed having A/C whenever I was off the flightline. I'll give props to the CE squadron, though; they always had the best tent hooches. |

When choosing a weapon, I always take the advice of an Airforce plumber.

Personal AK is a CAI fucked gun made from Polish parts. Lol. ETA: Quoted:

"I can't figure out buffer weights or barrel twists, therefore ARs suck."
No, you're just dumb. The AK suits you fine, then. |

He likes the AK better than the AR and wrote an article to convince himself. Whatever. If he's happy more power to him.

How many times does he think he will have to rebarrel his pdw? View Quote Because before I go shooting I have to dig through a barrel of assorted buffers and springs to find the ones to fit my rifle? I might be doing it wrong but I can either stay mil-spec and put a mil-spec buffer and spring in or I the ability to customize my weapon and therefore have to size the buffer and spring to the custom rifle. It's not rocket surgery and certainly an experienced chair force engineer could figure it out ... or at least read the recommendations that are readily available. |

I would take either if I could legally own one or the other.
Given the choice though, I much preferred the AR over the AK...I mean who wouldn't? |

Maybe his title should say-
"I'm an idiot and cannot figure out the AR15, so I picked the AK" |
