Yeesh,

I go away from AR15.com 3 months and find that the world still sucks and I need to stick around here more often.

With the scumbag soccer-mom anti-pledge/anthem yuppie larvae breeders controlling our schools' ability to excercise freedom of speech and assembly to recite our nation's heritage.... well, I'm pissed!

Everywhere, you have people like "US" who know patriotism, live it, and share it.  We walk around looking at all these clueless sheep out there that have nothing better to do than to take up a cause (granted, it is the mother of all worthy causes...) and then fade out when it becomes a passing fad.

I know, there are some out there that put flags in the windows of thier homes and cars that are real patriots and all.  But there are folks out there that lit candles right after the 11th for that National Day of Mourning and probably don't even know why they did it anymore.

I heard a comment the other day.  "We should slowly insulate and distract our children from dwelling on the events of the 11th..."  What!  I realize there is a reason to protect the kids mental health by not letting them watch CNN like the sunday morning cartoons, but damn, they will forget this whole incident like some discarded broken toy with that attitude taken too far.

It's a sin the way the country has forgotten the reasons we fly those colors, the people who died for those colors, and the millions that dream to have the right to one day have the freedom to go with that flag.  This is a country, that up until the 11th, started to look funny at folks who displayed the flag.  They regarded it as a sentimental decoration of war times past and the Fouth of July.

How long is it until the new "armchair patriots" out there decide to take the tattered flags off of thier cars, and slip into the foggy care-free ignorant bliss they new before the 11th?

Pissed to no end: PropellerHead.
"These colors do not run!"

Quotes like below get me steamed. Some people rather have their heads in the sand.  Those are the first to get killed.

Steve Attenberg, a frequent flier from Buffalo Grove was on that flight Sept. 25 - after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Attenberg had mixed feelings about the announcement.

"I'm well aware, if somebody goes to hijack us these days, we're going to have to fight back," he said. "But if they're really trying to get people to fly again, why would they do that? I wondered, do I really want to hear this?

Huh?

In my experience, soccer moms and yuppies are patriotic. They may be Clinton Democrats who support gun control, but they do love this country.

It's the Greens, the radical feminists, the anti-globalization protesters, and the card carrying Socialists and Peace & Freedom Party types who hate this country.

... Personally, I never felt it more important to DD250 a fighter aircraft on time than now.

... Funny thing, a lot of these pacifist soccer moms are now championing my cause more than ever before.

... My job now is to remind them that freedom has never been free and the Second Amendment guarantees that!

I'll lend my support to propellerhead on this one. Gotta love that name.

And I agree that it will be people like him and maybe some of the rest or us who may eventually risk our lives for others. Consider, however, that losing patriots willing to put their lives on the line for the rights and freedoms of the rest of us in order to protect those who put the illusion of safety and their own material possesions ahead of the lives of the people who would protect them has a very negative long term effect on the constitution, the nation and our future. Consider the political environment in this nation during and after each war in this century. It is not difficult, being a vet, to understand that there might be some displeasure with those who may not be considered worthy of the ultimate sacrifice.

Personally, I would think that a true patriot would want to defend "all these clueless sheep" without needing to judge them or feel superior to them.

Maybe that's just me.

You would defend the lives of those who would want to take away your freedoms just so they can feel safe?

DK-Prof - it's just you.

Screw the sheep.  They want my guns, then want someone else to defend them in time of trouble.

Repeat - screw the sheep.  And I AM superior to them in that I have a USEFUL and RIGHT sense of honor, duty, and responsibility.

Wrapping a robbon around your car's antennae for "patriotism" then voting for swine or not voting at all or being otherwise uninformed doesn't cut it for me.  Supporting RKBA with your votes, time, and money, DOES.

Yes. But not only "just so they can feel safe", more so that they can have the freedom to openly debate with you what Patriotism is.
