Upper front to outer thigh and only on one side.

Been having it about a week. Kinda a burning pain, like I just smeared it with Icy Hot after a hot bath.

Comes and goes. Exercise seems to make it better but work seems to aggravate it.

It does NOT seem like any kind of muscle strain, I get it sometimes just walking around the house and it lasts a minute or two. Seems like it should be circulatory but I have no idea.

Sound familar to you guys?

Have you done anything that would put strain on the muscles shuch as reaching and standing on you toes?

It sounds like meralgia paresthetica or compression of the lateral femoral sensory cutaneous nerve probably across the inguinal ligament.

You can google the name for some better references...

you are a ninja, what do you expect to be pain free forever?
Link Posted: 3/25/2006 12:45:40 PM EDT
Working with your hands over your head? That's what they said caused it when I had it.

btw...I recommend Drjarhead. He said what was wrong with me almost a year before the specialists figured it out.

I have the same problem.. started in 85 for me.. has moved up from just above the right knee to the entire outer thigh and even into the hip area a little since 85 and now the left leg is starting.. actually hurts to touch it.. or bump it.. I went in for tests on it in 90 and was told it was a pinched nerve somewhere in my back causing it.. and if I could live with it to leave it alone.. it has progrerssivly gotten worse through the years.. but I Just Live with it..

Good luck

Kind of a numbing as well?
You ain't gonna die from it, but you got worries if that pain keeps moving toward your toes......

See a Doc. A real Doc, not the Large Animal Vet that lives 2 streets over.......

+1. usually compression from wearing a tool/duty belt
Link Posted: 3/25/2006 1:39:37 PM EDT
Sometimes similar symptoms develop from a compression of the L2-4 nerve roots in the lower back... but most of the time its compression at the inguinal ligament, aka the groin area.

I usually see it in men who wear heavy belts, or have a more prominent beer belly or women are pregnant. Occasionally I see it in men who have a hernia or just over exercised their thigh muscles...

just my 0.02 worth... you may just want to see your local neurologist if this is really bothering you...

sciatic?

I have something similar that comes over the right hip and down the right side of the thigh. Also a little weakeness in the groin area.

I think I have a little damage to a lower disc that started all this up. It all started when I was vacuuming under the bed and twisted to one side....and vacuuming still aggravates it.

I am waiting on Monday for my Doc. She has all my records , esp the right leg and foot that have been busted up big time. Ice packs, pain killers and beer, but the pain is still there. The civil war bone saw scares me, I signed the approvial for a implant for the right ankle once before and now I have trouble putting weight on that foot/ankle you grovel for styer's guns.
You are not getting mine.
The wife has the diamonds I have guns. Take the foot I get a free handicrap card and free ccw.
I have a will and a trust fund, the guns must be used and cleaned and oiled.
I may not be able to walk right now, but I will be back soon .

High speed and precision vs. low tech. But mine is rusty, infection could be fun to watch; kinda like reality TV.
