While cutting the grass today, a piece of debris flew into my eye. It didn't hurt immediately, so I finished the lawn, then flushed with saline solution. It is now about 6 hours after the incident and my eye is still red and irritated. After up close inspection, there is no debris in my eye, but it still feels like there is. I think I have scratched my cornea (I have had this happen before). Short of going to a doc in the box or the ER, is there anything else I can do?

tape your eye shut for 1 day. The cornea epithilium repairs itself quickly

I think you should go to the doc and get it checked out. Best wishes. BTDT a long time ago.

My future father in law did the exact same thing last week, and ended up in the ER. It was in and out, he was lucky enough to just have a simple scratch without lodged debris or anything.

One thing I can tell ya, nobody down there told him he was a dumbass for coming in. He ended up with a few eye drop prescriptions and an appointment at an optometrist in a week or so. I was glad he went.

Eyes are special man.. Take care of them.

Make sure your Tetanus Vaccination is up to date = less than 5 years.

I was wearing glasses at the time. I am going to see the doc this morning.

Glasses don't cut it. I wear saftey goggles and ear protection whenever I get out the mower or weedwacker.
