Yep. They know. No problems there.

To answer the other questions -- she is already in a long-term relationship with a guy who runs his own business and makes good money, too.

Yes, 180K will keep you well-fed in California, and leave money left over for savings and fun. Especially if you have no kids and your significant other is making good money, too.
