I know they probably get 4182349823498 letters/emails, but I have a completely reasonable and fair question I'd really liked answered.

Since it's been widely argued that the 2nd Amendment was about small arms on par with the military of the day, with the NFA registry closed and whatnot, how far out of sync will civilians be from the military in 50 years? What about 100 years?
