This is a telephone conversation between a child, and the employer of
one of the parents.
An employer, concerned with his best worker failing to show up for work,
decides to give him a call. He calls, and is greeted by a childs' voice whispering "hello?"
Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to speak with a child, the boss
asks "Is your daddy home?"
"Yes" whispered the tiny voice.
"May I speak with him?" the man asked.
"No." replies the child.
"Is your mommy there?" asks the man, growing a little frustrated.
"Yes." came the answer.
"May I speak with her?"
"No." again, the small voice says.
Knowing that it would be highly unlikely that the boy would be left alone,
the man decided to simply leave a message with whomever was watching over the child.
"Is there anyone else there?" He asks.
"Yes," whispers the child, "there's a policeman here."
Wondering what a cop would be doing at the home of his employee, the boss
aks the child "May I speak with him?"
"No, he's busy." replies the child.
"Busy doing what?" asks the man.
"He's busy talking to the fireman." says the little boy. "He's talking to mommy, Daddy, and the fireman."
Growing concerned, and even worried as he hears what sounds like a helicopter in the background, the boss asks, "What is that noise?"
"A hello-copper," answers the whispering voice.
"What's going on over there?" asked the boss, growing alarmed.
In an awed, hushed voice, the boy replies, "The search team just landed their
hello-copper."
Now almost beside himself with worry, the boss asks, "What are they searching for?"
Still whispering, the little boy replies with a hushed giggle,
"Me."
