Blacks were never really brought to Russia like they were brought to the USA. I spent four months in Russia. Black people are VERY VERY rare there. If you see one, odds are that he's a tourist. And if you think that racism against blacks is bad in the USA, it's 10x worse in Russia.

Yes. There are a few black immigrants who hang-out around one of Moscow's metro stations.
There are many. Most of them were students from Africa. Some married russians and have interracial marriage.
I believe, there is at least one black TV personality. |
There are some black people in Russia. The Soviets brought Africans from their client states: Angola,Ethiopia,Mozambique etc to study and some of them stayed and some of them got married etc.
My SO is Estonian and had never met a black person before coming to the States...or a Latino...or an Asian...or an Arab...or an Indian (either kind). |
All Blacks originate mostly from Africa. So if you're asking if there are Blacks with prehistoric roots in Russia, I would very much doubt it. But I am sure there are plenty of black people who immigrated to Russia and many Blacks call Russia their homeland because they were born there.

I was in Saint Peterburg Russia for 2 weeks and I saw 2 Blacks.
I've got a friend from Russia. He was an exchange student here back in highschool. He had never spoken to a black person until he got here and he lived right outside Moscow growing up.

I figured it would be extremely rare. I spent a month in Hungary on a work assignment and didn't see any black people. Then again. i was probably the only Puerto Rican guy in the whole country as well....haha |

They came in two waves during soviet times to attend moscow universities. Mainly to learn how to become Robert Mugabe type thugs. Some never left. The first waves were early in the Soviet times when they were taking people from all over (including the USA). The second wave came in the early to mid 1970's with some trickling in through the early 90's.
They mainly came in from Mozambique, Angola, and some Namibian, Rhodesian, DRC, Zambian, and South African dissidents to fight in their "internal struggles" Blacks from the USA came in the earlier waves. Also, a lot came in via Cuba. Again, same reason. But in the Soviet Union, AND in Cuba they are very racist despite their insistence that they are all comrades. There were some that stayed as academics and liaisons to the african nations however. |

He's only half black. The rest is honkey and arab |
VBC's article may have covered it (didn't follow the link), but there was a small migration wave of Black Americans before WWII as well.
During the Soviet days there were students from Africa that would come to study. Now there are more immigrants due to changing economic conditions. Media is trying to showcase blacks as being accepted in Russian society, having them on dating shows, as TV commentators, etc. There was even a recent story about the first black recruit going through Russian Army airborne school. In reality, Russians are very racist and immigrants from Africa face a lot of verbal abuse and violence.

Roughly 50k in a country of 143 million. So yes, but not many.

Standard Marxist historical interpretation. Some of that stuff is repeated so much as unquestioned fact, people don't even realize it is debated, or that it has origins in Soviet Propaganda. |

I had a Russian exchange student living next door to me last semester.
She wasn't fond of blacks and complained of them being lazy and uneducated. It appears to be a few of them in the St Petersburg area where she came from at least. |
I've got that hat! ........ but I'm not black. ......................... or Russian. |
There was a news story a couple of years ago about an African immigrant to Russia who married a local, got Russian citizenship, and became mayor of the small town they lived in. Pretty rare, but they exist.

Russians are very racist. Blacks showing up in the wrong place in Moscow draw very aggressive responses.
There were a couple of waiters in a hotel bar where I stayed. Invariably drew, "what are those people doing here" from Russians seeing them for the first time. |

That one only counts as half.... |
