Man, I'm listening to KSFO radio this morning, and these flower guys sound kinda fem.

What's the deal with that?

I've never seen a guy working in a flower shop.....

No, just because they do floral arrangements doesn't make them gay. Some of these guys have been doing this for 40 years when it was just another job, not a fashion statement. I would say the majority of newer men in that business probably are, but all is a little too encompassing.

It was this guy's show.

He seemed okay, but the flourists he had calling in to give advice sounded a little iffy.

No.

Dean O'Banion (also Dion O'Banion) (8 July 1892 - 10 November 1924) was an Irish-American mobster who was the main rival of Johnny Torrio and Al Capone during the brutal Chicago bootlegging wars of the 1920s....

O'Banion married Viola Kaniff in 1921, and bought an interest in William Schofield's Flower Shop on North State Street as a legitimate front and an outlet for his fondness for flowers. Schofield's became the florist for mob funerals.

Yeah, but if they are gay, I bet the arrangements will be color coordinated beautifully!

Actually, no.  Back in my hometown I knew a guy that owned a flower shop that was definitely not gay.

Of course my hometown was so small that they didn't have an appreciable number of gay people, and SOMEBODY had to sell flowers.

The flower shop I go to is run by a couple gay fellows.
At least I assume they are by behavior, diction, tone, and the way they flirt with each other.
Nice guys though, and they do good work.
