Some of those apply but being raised as a typical Coonass® in south Louisiana, some don't apply so readily.

Poll fail.

No option for "all of the above".

Link Posted: 10/3/2014 8:18:15 PM EST
I checked every single one of them......not sure if that is good or bad

Magic poll. Check em all individually.

I checked 4 of the boxes, but I wouldn't consider myself redneck/country at all. I was born in Las Vegas, moved to New Jersey, then to southern OH.

We didn't sleep on the porch in the summer, we slept on the roof. We'd pull one of the screens out and go sleep on the roof. My mom thought for sure that we'd be laying out in the yard dead one morning. We lived.

Wow. I wish we would have thought of that. It was just me and my brothers sometimes that would sleep in the porch. Oh, and the dog.
Roof would have been cooler

7 out of 10. Possibly 8. I never went barefoot to purposely save my shoes but I did (and still do) go barefoot most of the summer.

We had apple trees. Grandmaw would dry them on sheets we had spread out over bushes
She would then cook them into a filling. Make pastry dough. Fill. Fry. Sprinkle with sugar.

I spent a good deal of time in the woods. i would destroy shoes. So, I tried to be more conscientious and would go barefoot in the yard or even when walking some distance. I just stayed off blacktop.
Finally, they started buying me boots when I was 12 so it was no longer an issue.

Our main floor was air conditioned. The upstairs, where the kids slept, was not. As hot as it was in the summer, it was that cold in the winter. We'd set a glass of water on the window sill and it'd be frozen solid in the morning. My kids will never know how good they have it.

I only checked six.

I didn't have to sleep on the porch, our house was on a little hill and I had a good breeze through my bedroom when the windows were open.
We could afford shoes.
Mom made apple pies the regular way.
We drank iced tea but not to excess.

I can remember not having indoor plumbing.

My family has been in the Eastern Kentucky/Western Virginia area for generations. We are related to the Hatfields on my mother's side. A log cabin that one of my distant grandparents built is in a museum in Kentucky. My mother's house was a tar paper shack built by my grandfather. It had no interior doors, just curtains.

My parents left when my father joined the service. All my immediate relatives have either moved away or passed on. As such, I rarely return to the area.

Pies were baked and we werent so poor as to not be able to afford shoes.

It was wise for us to do so. My grandparents were particularly harsh on " Not taking care of your shoes"
