What is your experience?  What is the selection like?  I was going to sign up for the 'free' service but you have to put in CC info.

hell no. When I pay for music I want a physical disc

Get yourself Mozilla Thunderbird Email/Newsgroup client
and hookup to your ISP's newsgroup server.
Once you connect, you need to get a list of all the
newsgroups your server has.
Not all servers carry the same newsgroups.
Some carry more, others, less.
Once the list is downloaded, type in mp3, and it will show
all the groups with mp3 in the name.
Subscribe to the ones you want.
Then browse on each group to see what songs there are.
Download them.
Listen to them.
Burn them on CD.

You're welcome.

I did Napster briefly, but then switched over to iTunes when I got my iPod.

The selection was pretty good, as was the quality of the music itself (bitrate and all that). Other than that, there's not much I can offer.
