I was just wondering how long a wait I have until I hear something. I sent in my application for a type 01 FFL on Thursday 3-2-06, and see that they charged my credit card on Monday 3-6-06. The ATF website says 4-8 weeks.....I hope it doesn't take that long!!!! The wait is almost as bad as waiting for a stripped lower or a parts kit!

For those that are interested:

I had my interview Monday 3-27-06, and things went well. The investigator said he saw no reason to deny my application and said I should recieve my license in the mail in 3-4 WEEKS. hock.gifhat

Damn!!!!!!!!!!  I mailed my application in back in January, they cashed the check several days later and I haven't heard ANYTHING yet.

This sucks now.

Good for you though!

IIRC...I read somewhere that they have to make a decision in 60 days, but PLEASE don't quote me on that!!

Do they actually do an in person interview now?  When I got my FFL back in 1993 they just did a phone interview.  I am considering getting my FFL again and am curious about the interview process.

Yes, I had an in-person interview at my proposed place of business. A few basic questions about your proposed business operation, and a review of the regulations. It took about 1 1/2 hours total. I was a bit nervous before the interview, but the investigator I talked to was a really nice guy. Nothing too difficult about it. YMMV

Not to be a thread hijacker or anything, but what is the process.  I am thinking about it.

When I got my FFL (early 80's) I filled out a piece of paper that required my name, address and phone number.  As I recall a $30 or $90 check.  No phone interview, no visit.  Got my FFL a month or two later.  Things, of course, have changed considerably since then!

Still waiting, sent it in Feb 6.  Sent an email to BATFE and they say they have the application and it is at a local office being "processed" whatever that means.
