Is it really that big of a deal?
It was apparently important enough for you to start a thread about.

I'm gonna make a student make a pinhole thing out of a shoebox.
I gotta work and no fucks will be given, although I work outside so theres that...............
I'm looking forward to being able to get a quick afternoon nap while its dark
It gets dark here every day. Who cares if it gets dark twice tomorrow? Big fucking deal.
it's a thunderstorm that happens every 38 years.
BFD there are nerds at work who are flying to MO for it. I heard them all chattering about hotels and rental cars. |

Anyone not care about the eclipse or not watching? View Quote If you've seen one eclipse, you've seen 'em all. |

We will be out on the boat for it with a bunch of friends. Although I could care less

Is this another "Stop disliking what I like" thread? OR "Stop liking what I dislike" thread?
-It is neat if you like science. -It is a novelty since, for many, it is a once in a lifetime event. -There is more to life than GD With that said, if the center track was not coming within an hours drive of my house, I would likely not be going to partake in the event either. My kids are young and it is something cool to do together. The next time it happens where I am, I am likely going to be dead and my kids will be taking their grandkids. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the craziness of it, if you can. |

not only will I be watching it, I will be watching it from a Mitsubishi Eclipse, jamming total eclipse of the heart from my eclipse sound system.
Then after I am going to nap on my eclipse mattress while my eclipse curtains blocks the daylight. Then I will wake up and eat a moon pie |
I've already seen one. I think I will just sit on the porch in the shade and drink beer in the dark.

ZFG, never really been into pagan celebrations and rituals. I remember seeing a partial eclipse a long time ago when I was a child. We didn't have special glasses. You had to smoke the bottom of a drinking glass with candle soot and look through that to watch it. Simpler times.
I'll be on the road so I'll be experiencing it whether I like it or not. I imagine it'll just be like a monsoon storm or a haboob.

92% here. Not driving for it (3 hours from the umbra), but I am taking the day with the kids. Son is really into space.

Supposed to be 87% here. No shit, really it is. I'll be working. Will pop outside to check it out. Not all wound up about it.

So, uh, an eclipse is not a pagan ritual. That's like saying rainfall is a Native American dance ... oh fuck it never mind. Enjoy your smugness and watch Oprah tomorrow afternoon. View Quote FOA. I'm not asking for a condemnation of my personal beliefs. |

I am an ignorant Philistine who has no care about a rare astronomical event, so no I won't be watching.

I'm just pissed off that I have to work overtime because of it..
I'll be at work...will try to check it out, but frankly it's not my priority tomorrow.
I have already seen one, so I'm not all that excited about it. It is just like a really fast sunset and sunrise. The most interesting parts were the color of the sky before and immediately after the eclipse, and the way animals reacted...especially birds.

I've never been in the path of totality though. My sister lives right under it but expenses don't allow me to make a trip to the middle of Nebraska this summer. |

I saw one in the early or mid 90's. It was ok, not as big as this will be.
I'll be working outside all day, but I'm not too interested in it. We were down by st louis today. On the way back north on 55, the southbound traffic was crazy in spots. It looks like an ass load of people are heading to see it.I hope it's worth their while, once in a lifetime and all of that. Personally, I wouldn't skip an hour of work to see it. |

I'm keeping the dogs inside cause the wife said so... should start a pool on the eye damage numbers for a week from now.
